Help identifying a movie

not sure if this is the right forum but i need some help with a movie that i used to watch alot around 7 years ago.

it was a shaolin/martial arts movie. i remember the guy trying to get into the temple for practice but the monks wouldn't let him. a girl and her grandfather then accepted him in their house until they would let him in teh temple i think. i remember him sitting in front of the temple in rain and other weather and the next day they accepted him.

there was also another scene where he is in a dark room and he gets attacked by statues(maybe wooden) and he had to get through them.

thats about all i remember, i would greatly appreciate any help.

thanks in advance!

Have no idea, but if it's a martial arts/cult film (and it sounds like it), you would probably get better results by asking over at the DVD Maniacs forum (if I'm not mistaken, I think the people who run that site also review DVDs for this site):

It's know by 2 names Master Killer & 36th Chamber Of Shaolin and is considered one of the best martial arts films ever made. The basic story is their are 35 training chambers at the Shaolin temple. Gordon Lui masters all of them and then creates his own, after he invents the three section staff.

It was just re-released 2-3 weeks ago so you should be able to find it in stores.

I just watched 36th chamber of Shaolin last night. It's not it, the two scenes the OP wrote about are not in the film. BTW, it's an awesome film!

I believe the Shaw Brothers made hundreds of movies, many including the Temple of Shaolin. It could take a lot of slogging through chop socky flicks to find it.

From reading the description of American Shaolin it sounds alot like it so i'm sure you can see why I thought it was 36th Chamber.

Can't get them all right.
