Once again, don't get me wrong. I like this movie, I like it a lot in fact. But every time I see it listed at the very top of somebody's top 20 list, I wince and wonder if they too like it for all the wrong reasons.

I like Fight Club a lot, in fact it might very well be in my list of top 20 (if I ever made one), what gives someone the right to tell me the reasons I like the movie are right or wrong? Agree theres no right for someone to tell you the reasons you like a movie are right or wrong. Just like in the Lost thread someone told me I was watching the series for all the wrong reasons, bull, there is no wrong reason to watch a TV show. That said I would agree with this as well Soderburgh: Overrated: Traffic Underrated: The Limey |
Two different genres, but the first two movies that came to mind....
Overrated: The Wedding Crashers Underrated: Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow |

Farrelly Brothers Overrated: There's Something About Mary Underrated: Kingpin Granted these aren't high works of art, but figured I'd throw it out there. I don't hate There's Something About Mary, but I'm not wowed by it either, thinking its merely a decent comedy. Somehow it became one of those movies that just takes off at the box office. Kingpin, on the other hand, I find to be hilarious and a really great comedy. And yet it didn't do nearly the business of the Farrelly's movies released right before it (Dumb & Dumber) or after it (There's Something About Mary). |

Instead, everyone seems to be thrilled with Transformers, a movie I thought was a poorly written and edited, incoherently directed bit of ego-massage as Bay acted as if he was "dumbing down" his already dumb schtick to please the masses. Chop 30 minutes, zoom out during the fights, and remove the annoying, Jar Jar Binks-level chittering robot comic relief and you might have something. And, sorry to say it, lose Megan Fox for a different hottie with at least some remote shred of personality or you might as well just use her Maxim cover as a stand-in.
My picks: Overrated: (as much as I like them) the films of Martin Scorsese. Underrated: The films of John Huston. |

I'll play along: Kubrick Overrated: 2001 Instead of "playing along" you should have looked up "overrated" in the dictionary. |

Instead of "playing along" you should have looked up "overrated" in the dictionary. –verb (used with object), -rat·ed, -rat·ing. 1. to rate or appraise too highly; overestimate; 2. http://thecia.com.au/reviews/1/image...y-poster-2.jpg |
