Bad idea. I'd love to see the further adventures of The Dude as much as anyone, but a sequel will only dilute the original.

I think the Coens, who have never done a sequel, are probably not stupid and if they really want to make a sequel they have something worth making in mind. Especially now that they got all that press at Cannes (and I even liked Intolerable Cruelty) I don't think they've lost it, either.

Yeah, this is like a guy firing a 3-pointer from 40-feet and making it hopefully. "No! No! N0! Yes!"

Re: Big Lebowski sequel

Would be awesome if it turned out to be a surprise teaser trailer for a sequel. Don’t think it’ll happen though and probably is a one off Super Bowl commercial. Bridges is obviously older but I think he could still pull off the part of The Dude again.

That's a spinoff, not a sequel. It has no distributor and probably sucks.

Re: Big Lebowski sequel

Big Lebowski star Jeff Bridges reprising role of The Dude in mystery project

I’ve got information, man!

Jeff Bridges has teased the possibility that he is reprising the role of “The Dude,” the iconic, White Russian-slurping, perpetually stoned bowler he portrayed in the Coen brothers’ classic 1998 comedy, The Big Lebowski.
In a video posted on Bridges’ Twitter account, the Oscar-winning actor is seen dressed in the distinctive costume of his beloved character while the accompanying message reads “Can’t be living in the past, man. Stay tuned.”
What does it all mean? Well, as the Bob Dylan-accompanied clip concludes with the date “2.3.19,” Bridges is most likely teasing the appearance of the Dude in a Super Bowl commercial. Whatever the case, be sure that we will keep you up to date with all Lebowski-related ins, outs, and what-have-yous as they occur.

Re: Big Lebowski sequel

It's possible it's NEITHER an ad nor connected to a new movie - Bridges might be doing something for the network itself - like an intro to the game or some kind of pre-game show segment. I mean the Rams are one of the teams (the Dude is from LA) - maybe he's the guy introducing the Rams and they got Mark Wahlberg to introduce the Patriots.

Regardless, it is related to the Super Bowl.

The Dude is nearly 70 now, and he's been drinking hard for nearly fifty years. I have met some old people who quit maturing in their 20s, and it's not charming, it's sad. I can't see anything in another Lebowski story.

That's possible...they're doing something with Harrison Ford and a handful of other celebs - but none of them (the ones revealed so far) are in-character as anyone.
