Good movies that lose steam towards the end?

Just saw The Game today for the first time ever.
1st 2 hours ----> Thrilling, riveting, etc.
Last 8 minutes -> So terrible, it ruined the entire movie!

Definitely there with Fight Club. The first act is witty, sharp, and well-paced. The second act is filled with dark humor and gut-wrenching comedy. The third act, which happens right after the Macintosh store being destroyed, was confusing and boring.

Actually, this criticism over the last act in Fight Club is quiet a surprise for me and rather unheard of. I thought the whole 'terrorist' and 'corporation' play was well paced and tied together with the film because Edward Norton's character resists and at the end rejects the whole notion. Hence it was a nice and not too-cliche, plus we get to see one of the coolest headshots in movies.

28 Days Later - Loved it until they meet up with the military guys.

Fight Club is the obvious answer.

HEATHERS
I still love the movie, but I thought that it stumbled a bit right after the murder of the two football players. In particular, the scene where Christian Slater lights up his cigarette by Winona Ryder's burnt palm was too cartoony.

Honestly I would say most movies fall into this category. Very few movies can keep the intensity up through the middle and end of a film and I would say there's only a small handful that really improve in the second half. Most of these movies are ones that dump you right into the sequel: Kill BIll V1, Dead Man's Chest, Empire Strikes Back, etc.

1408. Started out very strong and then just lost itself in the end. It became a mess that didn't know which direction to go. However John Cusack still gave a fantastic performance.

Unfortunately it's pretty common for me to enjoy the first half a movie much more than the 2nd half, so there would be too many for me to list.
1408 does definitely stand out among recent movies though.
