I hope the movie can live up to the trailer. And I hope a DVD comes out soon with that trailer on it, I don't care if it's Paul Blart, I'll buy it.

I'm going to have to check the book out again, I was probably an actual kid the last time I read it. But this movie looks like solid gold! Can't wait to see it

Re: First pic from Spike Jonze's "Where the Wild Things Are"
I have to admit...I seriously didn't believe it'd ever come to look this good what with all the WB hassle and release date changes..but damn. I keep watching this trailer..and it is my MOST ANTICIPATED film of the year. Fuck Terminator Salvation, Inglorious Basterds, Wolverine..this film is a must see. Man, that fucking shot of the Wild Thing crying makes me cry like a bitch...I'm so happy to see this. I wonder what Maurice Sendak thinks of the film considering he's a producer on the project. DAMN YOU, TRAILER!! Every time I see..."Inside all of us is...fear" it's like my cue to cry...I don't think I've ever cried for a trailer. Well...maybe not so vocally...UGH!!! I WANT IT KNOW!!
Also it cost...$115 million dollars to make. Damn, this must be literally the most artsy big budget film I've seen in a while...and it's a children's book. I hope to God, that the film makes it back..cuz I can see where it might be too dark for parents to take the kids too...well parents that didn't read the book. Turns out...a lot ppl haven't read the book. I thought it was like...common knowledge among us all....
EDIT: OMG...I can't stop watching this trailer...I'm so addicted to it..but here's some neat info..
Spike Jonze was approached by Maurice Sendak and was asked to take on the film adaptation. A movie had been on the burner since the early 90s, and Mr. Sendak had not been able to find anyone fitting to take it on.

The question is whether they are going to truly market it to adults and kids alike, or stick to marketing it almost as an indie-type feel (which is the feeling i get from that trailer, although not an indie budget), and hope that all the adults that read the books when they were little are in attendance (it was published in the early 60's after all).
I know i knew very little about this film until recently, and I have been forwarding that trailer to everyone i know. As a point of reference, I'm 30 years old.
I personally would prefer if it is in the vein of the "pretty much too scary for anyone under 12" children's movies of the 80s (like toddly said), a la labyrinth and dark crystal.

Reading that old news link again, you can use CGI to redo the monsters and landscapes, but in order to fix Max, you'd have to have extensive reshoots. Kids that age change fast too, so I hope they were able to salvage the performance if those impressions are accurate.

...well turns out that image of the Wild Thing crying ISN'T in the book..still makes me cry to see that though. Jim Henson company did good work on the Wild Thing bodies.

I wonder if this is as mainstream as Jonze will get? All I know is that I'm going to see this movie in theaters and hopefully it'll blow me away. I also hope that if it is good, it gets the cash it needs cuz...the way it sounded is that WB was kinda doubtful of Jonze...and maybe this is too dark for some kids I dunno...but it's not bad to be dark.

wow...what an awesome trailer! The first movie in a really long time I'm looking forward to...the Arcade Fire song was perfect, I really hope they release that version. The trailer was so moving, I don't even care if it gets bad reviews, I'll still see it

McFarlane toys has had some toys for a while now that closely mirror the book.
