Maybe I am biased since I live so close to where a bunch of scenes were filmed but I loved the movie. The crowd at the advance screening really got into the movie. When Kevin showed up after the film for the Q&A session the crowd was eager to tell him how much they enjoyed the film. I will have to see it again when it comes out because the big jokes got huge laughs but then you couldn't hear the next few lines of dialog.

lol I don't know if it's been mentioned in the thread or not, but I just finished watching an episode of Reel Comedy higlighting this movie. They ended the episode asking the actors and Kevin Smith what they think the message of the movie is, what people could take away and learn from the movie.

Kevin Smith said:
Spoiler:
Don't make Jersey Girl.
and then went on to elaborate:
Spoiler:
That is the one thing I've personally learned while on the set of every movie I've made...except Jersey Girl.

lol

I sure hope it does well. I dunno that a movie like this would give Kevin the clout to make Red State, but the more I hear about that movie, the more I want him to make it, and additionally, I think this looks pretty solid. Will probably see it on the 1st.

I doubt it. He knows the fans hate it so he just trashes it for a laugh.

I'd still like to see the director's cut at some point with all the J.Lo scenes put back in.

So making movies with Ben Affleck and J.Lo causes religious wounds to appear? Good to know

Flick has been banned by a big theater chain here in Utah:

The same theater chain is cheerfully showing Saw V.

saw it last night and it was not great at all (this is coming from a guy that actually kinda liked Jersey Girl).
Rogan and Banks have no chemistry at all and their characters were unsympathetic. Rogan's performance was subpar (Banks did her best with the materials she was given). There were some good lines but the whole production felt rushed and unrefined. Cool cameos though.

Ebert gave the movie 3 stars. funny quote "In Kevin Smith's fantasy diner, the waitresses at this joint strip naked and have noisy lesbian sex, and then Jose the busboy joins in the fun. They all scream loudly: "Bleep, you bleeping bleep! I bleep your bleep! Bleep! Bleep! I'm bleeping bleeping!"

Variety, the show-biz bible, trains its critics as keen observers of detail, and their alert senior critic Todd McCarthy observes: "There's scarcely a line of dialogue that doesn't feature the F-word, A-word, one of the C- or P-words or some variant of them."

Not banned, Larry H. Miller, who owns the theaters, just isn't showing it. He didn't show Brokeback Mountain either, for that matter.

Not only is that classic Ebert, but the idea of an assembly line of guys in Iron Man costumes is hilarious.

Really liked the movie... the first half is HILARIOUS... Non-stop laughs with some classic lines, vintage Smith at his best. The second half gets more serious/sappy/predictable but it's still a lot of fun. Justin Long steals his scenes in this one, as does Craig Robinson... really great stuff. Rogen and Banks are their usual charming selves...you've just never heard them say shit half as filthy as this, which for Rogen, is saying a lot. The 'Star Whores' stuff is pretty stale and uninspired, but luckily it doesn't kill the movie. I certainly didn't need to see Jason Mewes' dick and balls, but that won't stop me from recommending this one The Dutch Rudder was one of the funniest things ever.

If you see it, STAY FOR THE CREDITS...seriously one of the best parts of the flick and most people at my screening were already gone. 4/5 stars.

That's right. He banned both films from his theaters.

Just got back from seeing the first showing of this at the local theater. I loved it. In keeping with Smith's more recent flicks, it's got a ton of laughs and a ton of heart to go along with it. Elizabeth Banks is gorgeous and was really good here. And like a few others have said, Craig Robinson is really a highlight...he had some hilarious lines and his delivery was killer.

I loved this as well. It's nice to see him break free from the 'Jay & Silent Bob universe' but still do something that feels like Kevin Smith. And I loved the soundtrack.
