I'm excited at this idea. He-Man was my favorite 80s cartoon. The 300-style effects should really let them go wild with the fantasy world of Eternia.
I hope this turns out great. There's actually a lot of potential in 80s cartoon properties as their concepts were often so strong. I imagine that a GI Joe or Thundercats movie can't be far behind

There was a report, I think on DarkHorizons, a week or so ago, that indicated the producers were hot and heavy on getting Brad Pitt.

If they can do it right then I'm in. I didn't like the one they did years ago.

And not to geek out too early about something like this, but I don't like the way it says the movie will be based on the four cartoon series since the 80's. Does that mean the crappy sci-fi one as well?

I though this project was dead. I'll wait till I hear some news about casting, etc. before I get too excited. Yes, Trap Jaw and Beast Man are must-haves in a He-Man film. Also, Battle Cat. They could cast Willem Dafoe as Skeletor and save a ton on CGI too

I too believe that if done right, this could be cool. 300 style technology would really help make this movie look good and the sky is the limit on what they could show. I would actually like it if they followed the books and comics that came with the action figures when they were first released. Those were more reflective of the Conan movies and pulp sources that influenced the line.
The TV series was okay when I was seven, but they seemed to always try to hammer home the moral teachings. That's probably why I began to prefer G.I. Joe and Transformers.
EDIT: that movie they made in late 80s sucked in retrospect. They pretty much scrapped all material that made the toys and cartoons cool (i.e. magical lands, big creatures, elaborate characters) and opted to set the story on earth in modern times. Skeletor was kind of bad ass, but aside from that it was a total letdown, and that was my opinion as a ten year old kid!
While I might get trashed for this, let me recommend Eric Dane (McDreamy) for He-Man. He could play the part well IMO.
