Spider-Man 2. And not 2.1. Alfred Molina made Doc Ock one of the best villains in any comic film. 2.1 added some good stuff, but nothing that quickened the pace. If anything it slowed it down a bit. The theatrical cut is much leaner and moves at just the right speed.

2>1>3

Spider-man 3: Superhero movie that is simultaneously a morality tale. I'm not surprised it isn't being appreciated or understood by the masses who made 300 and Wild Hogs $100,000,000+ successes!

kms_md 05-07-07 08:14 PM

i vote for 2.

Fincher Fan 05-07-07 10:02 PM

2, 3, 1.

Spider-Man 2 is a great movie.

Doughboy 05-08-07 02:06 AM

I'll vote for the first one simply because the first hour was perfect. The 2nd half wasn't so great, but it didn't annoy me the way parts of the middle act of Spider-Man 2 did.

Now Spider-Man 3. That one by far is the weakest in the series. And it's made even worse by the fact that it retconned Uncle Ben's murder which weakens that part of the first movie.

Just me, or did the first half of SM3 seem like Marvel does The Mask?

Probably just me.

No. My friend and I looked at each other and said something very similar.

Preach ON! The design of his prosthetics was so killer, too. Im glad the character design did justice to an actor that did it justice back.

Going to see 3 after work. I'm getting pretty excited the more I think about it. I was disciplined and avoided the crazy ass crowds, but no MORE! Tonight is the night.

And I really don't have a problem with the retconning thing. They do that every other week in the actual comics, what's the big whoop?

Spider-Man 3 is already a $148 million+ success after three days in the U.S. alone.

I forget how good SM1 was. My son wanted to watch the first two movies after we watched SM3 this past Friday. As a comic book geek, I enjoyed SM3 tremendously. But after watching all three basically back to back to back, I have to agree with Mercury&Solace. SM3 doesn't hold a candle to 1 & 2. And in my estimation, 2 is the best by a hair.

The Bus 05-09-07 09:23 PM

Spider-man 2 was a great movie. Spider-man 3 was an entertaining one.

Spider-man is an almost unwatchable abomination.

jfoobar 05-09-07 10:45 PM

I didn't enjoy 1 or 2 and have no intention whatsoever of seeing 3. The whole series just misses my tastes.

porieux 05-10-07 06:02 AM

I would have to go with 'theoretical version which hasn't been made yet by a completely different cast/crew who are worthy of and truly understand and respect the material'. That's my write-in vote, is that okay?

JaxComet 05-10-07 12:00 PM

People actually voted for Spidy 3 ??????

mndtrp 05-13-07 04:14 AM

2 was the best.

Mr. Cinema 05-13-07 11:47 AM

It's not even close. Spider-man 2 is not only the best of the series, but it is one of the top 5 comic book films of all time. Part 3 felt like it was directed by Brett Ratner, which is probably the reason why I think the Spider-man series mirrors the X-men series. Parts 1 of each were a great starting point, parts 2 of each were the best of bunch, but parts 3 felt average and tiresome. Except Spidey had the same director, even though a different Raimi directed part 3.

tofu 05-13-07 01:19 PM

Spiderman 2 is the best, then 1 and in the distance 3

Ky-Fi 05-13-07 06:00 PM

I really liked all three, but 2 was a tad above the others, IMO. I definitely did not see 3 as a major drop in quality.

I feel the same way. The X-Men series and the Spider-Man series really do virtually mirror each other in regards to the quality of each movie.

The only difference was for X-Men 3 you could see the disappointment coming but Spider-Man 3 downright shocked me.

taa455 05-21-07 12:46 PM

In my opinion it is really a close call between 2 and 3. Yes, you read that right.

I'm in in the camp of those who see the flaws with 3 but don't really get the outright hatred. I voted 3 just because I don't believe the distance between 2 and 3 is that much.

There aren't enough periods in the world.

rexinnih 05-22-07 09:42 AM

IMHO, it was 2. Need to see 3 again.

Anyway, the second movie was my favorite. The first one was close, but I could not get over the Power Ranger Goblin.

Bring on the Sinister Six for the next movie!! :)
