I thought the list was . Sure, Heat is a good movie but most movies with the word "Heat" in it (or shows) are pretty bad.

What about "This Movie Sucks"? You never see those words in a title of a good film.
Or like, "Crying" and "Game" together.

Groucho 04-19-07 09:16 AM

I don't know. I'd pay $10 to see Ice Troll versus Son of the Final Ninja in the Dino-Universe: The Movie

sounds like a family based movie Troma would make.

Brian Shannon 04-19-07 10:14 AM

Well I thought the "Final Countdown" was a good movie, as was "Air Force One".

JIF 04-19-07 10:17 AM

Aside from Star Trek, usually film titles with the numbers 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, X suck.

Randy Miller III 04-19-07 10:25 AM

How about "_______ on a Plane"?

:D

Shannon Nutt 04-19-07 11:26 AM

You'd think this guy might have run his list through IMDB or Rottentomatoes just to be sure he wasn't completely full of shit. I mean, it kind of spoils the joke when one of his words is actually the title of a very good movie that, like, everyone has seen.

Ang Lee directed "The Ice Storm," which is well liked and 79% fresh on Rottentomatoes. "Ice Age" was also decently reviewed; 78% fresh.

Michael Mann directed "Heat" which is beloved and rated 90% fresh. How incredibly smug to fire off that list and put "Heat" on it. Typical of McSweeny's to publish a list by someone so clearly enamored with his own cleverness without having any idea what he's talking about.

Also, "In the Heat of the Night," 96% fresh, and is something of a classic.

See also, Lawrence Kasdan directed "Body Heat," 96% fresh, "Silence of the Lambs" helmer Jonathan Demme directed exploitation-classic "Caged Heat," 78% fresh.

The first "Dirty Harry" sequel was called "Magnum Force." Not as good as the original, but not bad. 76% fresh. I think that's the one where he broke up a hostage crisis by driving his car through a plate glass window and shooting everyone.

Jules Dassin directed "Brute Force" recently released by Criterion. I have not seen it yet, but it probably isn't bad.

I'm personally not willing to defend "Air Force One," or "Final Destination," but some people like those movies.

Never a good movie with Ninja in the title? What about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Sure it may be cheesy, but it is good cheese.

Kudama 04-19-07 12:31 PM

 What about Clash of the Ninjas?!? Only the best comedy this side of Team America!

But you see, Heat was very good, not remotely good. ;)

The movie about Malcom X being a notable exception. And personally, I liked X2.

I've never even seen "Heat", and I knew the list would be savaged by you guys because of it's reputation.
