Saw it tonight. What a great film, best I've seen in a long time. The characters were very well done, you felt like they were real people. I laughed my ass off nearly the entire movie. Rogen has amazing timing, he should be a star. 5/5.

What were all the jokes for Martin Star's facial hair?

I remember:
"Robin Williams' knuckles"
"late-period John Lennon"

What else was there?

I really enjoyed the movie. I honestly didn't notice that many f-bombs in it, but then I wasn't watching for them (so they flowed with the content).

Very funny, and the crowd seemed to really enjoy it. There were a LOT of married couples at our showing fwiw.

Also it appeared all showings of this and Pirates 3 sold out this evening.

that was Martin Star? He looked so different. The usage of ODB's "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" at the begining of the movie was genius.

"Ooooo baby I like it raw"

Charles Manson
Terrorist
The shoe bomber ( at Katherine Heigl referencing to it during the fight in the car, best moment in a film full of great moments)
Cat Stevens

a lot more I forgot but they were all hilarious.

I think the best joke for me was:

Spoiler:
when the skinny dude comes out of the shower and there was talk of him shaving his pubes over the toilet, and the over-reactionary guy swears about it, and says something like "the last time I took a shit, it turned into stuffed animal!"

Not sure, but I thought I caught a reference to Serpico also.

BTW, you guys need to pick up the soundtrack to the movie.

It's one of the best records Loudon Wainwright has done, and he's done a lot of great records.

I think it went something like:

Spoiler:
Dude, I hope you cleaned that up! Last time I took a shit, it looked like a fucking teddy bear!

You're embarrassing me in front of company!

You embarrass yourself!

very good movie. funny almost throughout, warm and fuzzy at all the right moments.
not quite as good as "40" . i thought this was a little more mean spirited and i am not a square at all, but i'm also not a big cusser, but this movie i thought was a little gratuitous in that department. a little much for my taste and did bring the level of goodness down a notch. very solid however. Judd Apatow really knows how to write very smart comedies with heart.

and i love that he uses his people over and over. they work and gel so well together. they did so in his short lives series', so why wouldn't they here.

and who saw the
Spoiler:
Steve Carell
cameo a mile away. i didn't know how or where he would be, but i knew he would be.

and only a few spots made me uncomfortable watching with my mom, namely the love making scene and a couple others. but, she loved it so i was happy!

Really?
Better or worse aside, I thought 40 Year Old had a slightly meaner streak, and was a bit more raunchy to boot. That, and it seemed to me that Knocked Up actually had a little less cussing in it than '40' did...

I agree... And the foulest mouthed people I have ever met are late 20's to mid 30's professionals (my wife and and I being in this category are a testament). I like that Apatow makes comedies with heart, that are funny, but dont have the "lesson" at the end.

40 was definitely not meaner. all the guys at the electronic store weren't necessarily mean to Andy and are very likened to Ben's stoner friends busting on each other. you knew that either group would have one another's backs no matter what. electronic store guys genuinely liked and tried to help andy, albeit in a weird and twisted way at times. but, the mood was much lighter.

in KU, the 2 couples screamed and cussed at each other in ways, that yes, is very true to life, but genuinely mean spirited to hurt the other. leslie mann and paul rudd going at it was very true life, but sad and vindictive. in an otherwise funny and light movie, some of the scenes were just a little off-putting and seemed out of place. that is the meaness i mean, much more real life wickedness than anything in 40. 40 also remained pretty consistent and light throughout. much more fictitious and harmless in 40, much more real and down to earth in KU.

I completely agree. It's one thing for friends, especially guy friends, to bust each other's balls, but the kind of stuff the couples said to each other in Knocked Up were just cruel.

Just saw it tonight, I thought it was great, easily the best movie of the year so far, what amazed me is how consistently funny it was, literally there were almost no dead moments. And like the OP, I feel like I missed some of the jokes because there was so much laughter in the audience.

I can definitely see some of the criticisms, maybe it was 10 or 15 minutes too long, and some of the Leslie Mann stuff could have been cut out. But it was just great. And I agree with the Kristen Wiig comments, nearly everything she said was hilarious.

My only hope is that Seth Rogen doesn't go the Jon Heder route and take every crap project that is thrown at him to cash in...

Frankly, I can't quite see Seth in a skin-tight skater's outfit...

I enjoyed it quite a bit as well.

I agree with the comments about Martin Starr, it took me a few minutes to recognize him as well. I loved the scenes where they kept calling him names, the line about them not getting laid because they had the shoebomber with them got one one of the loudest laughs of the night
