Poor Grindhouse; it truly is a disaster.

Nothing. Everyone that's seen Wild Hogs has been fairly positive about it. It shouldn't be so hard for people to see why Grindhouse has limited appeal.

So, I guess the Grindhouse will have legs and hang around for a long time argument has been all shot to hell. Some sites think it will finish in the top 10 though, but with bad numbers and at 9 or 10 so it's nothing to be too excited about.

Better than expected numbers for Disturbia.

Does any movie have "legs" anymore that isn't some family friendly kind of thing? I guess Wild Hogs has kind of hung around, although in a steady drop. It just started high. But I don't see movies like Titanic, movies that opened okay, and kept getting bigger and bigger. Of course Titanic was a freak exception, so I shouldn't compare anything to it.

Night at the Museum was the most recent that showed strong legs. Very steady.

A lot of movies that open at #1 don't tend to have stellar reviews. When A Stranger Calls and Dead Man's Chest come to mind.

It's funny that you're criticizing the average movie-goer for not flocking to see an homage to schlock filmmaking. We're not talking about Citizen Kane or a Bergman film here.

Well, boxofficemojo lists Grindhouse as #10 just ahead of #11 Aqua Teen (http://www.boxofficemojo.com/daily/chart/) Some good numbers for Disturbia (which actually got better reviews than I thought it would with a current 67% tomatometer), and I can not believe that Wild Hogs is still in the top ten but 300 (which came out a week later) is now out of the top ten.

So maybe a final gross of 20-25 million for Grindhouse.

Grindhouse was a good movie but its not like we, the audience, really get a reward by a movie doing well so why do we care if it drops out of the top ten or not?

Well I know nothing about Grindhouse but when I looked at its over 3 hours feature length - I can see why it isn't doing so in the box office.

When you're a fan of a movie it's nice to see it reap rewards, plus if it was successful we'd be able to anticipate spin offs. At this point, I wouldn't count on seeing any of the faux trailers making it into realization.

I guess I will have to go see Grindhouse again this week before its gone. Its a shame people don't know what good entertainment is.

I loved this project and would like to see more double-feature collaborations like this in the future but now that's guaranteed to never happen again.

At the end of this, I think the marketing department should take the fall for the poor performance of Grindhouse. Almost no one in the general public know what (1) grindhouse cinema is and (2) what the grindhouse "movies" are about. I mean, the trailer doesn't really portray 'Terror Planet' as a zombie film, all it shows is a bunch of cool shots of a girl with a machine gun leg. Hell, if I would of known that it was a zombie film, I would of been there day one.. On the other hand, 'Death Proof', just looks like some random movie with a truck. Add those two things, put it in a 30 second TV spot and you have mass confusion.

Glad to see ATHFTCMFFT (I love typing that) actually made alittle money. Can't wait for the DVD. I may try to break down and see Grindhouse before it leaves the theaters, which at this rate, won't be that much longer.

I knew someone would say this so all I can say is - cultural phenomenon and we don't see those often.

Yeah, cause the cultural phenomenon card isn't played at all when it comes to QT? This was built up as some epic movie experience for months and it failed plain and simply.
