Steve Buscemi

Fargo and Reservoir Dogs were more "outfront" roles but he's usually off to the side somewhere and is always one of my favorite parts of movies.

Living in Oblivion too. I'm sure he's had a few more that were under the radar.

From what i remember in the ads Djimon Honsou was never promoted as being in Blood Diamond. The ads always said Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Connolly. It wasn't until the movie hit dvd and he recieved an Oscar nom was his name put on the cover.

John C. Reilly, Morgan Freeman. They are almost always cast as sidekicks of some sort, or supporting players.

The first name that came to mind is Mark Ruffalo. He was a lead in his big break film, You Can Count on Me, but he has pretty much resided in supporting territory ever since (and is likely to stay there).

I can't believe I know this, but he's the male lead in both 13 going on 30 and Just Like Heaven. As you can see, I love my wife.

Wasn't Paul Rudd the lead in The Shape of Things?

It seems most people listed have been leads in something, there just aren't famous leads and often take supporting roles. Still, they can be lead actors.

I wouln't judge being a lead by ads, but by screen time. It's like the movie Training Day. If anything, the lead is Ethan Hawke, not Denzel Washington (even though it's thought of as a Denzel movie. Though to be fair, you can call both performances lead performances, just the story is about Hawke).

Plus, I think Honsou was pretty well represented in the early ads too, IIRC.

I love Morse. Good call.

He may not be a great actor, but I always enjoy Keith David on screen. He's usually supporting.

If we are talking strictly movies, than I got to go with Jason Lee. Had a chance to be the lead in Kevin Smith's Fletch movie, but miramax wouldnt let Smith cast Lee as the lead, so Smith ditched the project.

Perhaps with the success with Earl he may be able to lead a film.

Michael Biehn

Not a "Great" actor but it's just not an action movie unless Biehn is in it.

Though it could be argued that he was the lead in The Terminator and Navy Seals.

What about Brian Cox? How often has he been a lead? Most of the movies I've seen him in, he always plays a strong supporting character. Was he a lead in Manhunter?

He was the lead in that movie with Tom Green. I forget the name.
