STAR WARS 30th ANNIV. 1977-2007 Thread

Hi guys. I thought i'd start a thread about the 30th anniv of the great star wars movie(s). I'd like to start with what the USPS is doing for the celebration. Courtesy of Yakface.com, they have sneak peek of some of the mailboxes that will be painted like R2d2 and be displayed inside your local post office.

Who's gonna bet against Lucas re-re-re-re-re-re-releasing the saga on DVD, HD-DVD, Blu-Ray this year?

But wait a minute- the movie wasn't FINISHED yet- what you might have seen in 1977 doesn't EXIST anymore!

Too bad there are no new movies to look forward to. That is part of what made the 20th anniversary so exciting...new movies around the corner and the re-release of the OT. Not much excitement seems to be happening in regards to the 30th anniversary.

None of your tax dollars go toward anything the post office does; it's self-financed.

As someone who bought into the juggernaut of the 20th anniversary releases, figures, merch, etc... I think I'm pretty much done.

Anyone wanna buy some 'Power of the Force' figures? C'mon you know you want that Ronto beast and CGI Jabba figure...

I'd bet against it. It may still happen, but my hunch is that they want to wait for the HD market to develop before releasing it in HD (and again on DVD).

And the TV show(s)?

Personally, I can't wait to order the newest stuff online and have it shipped to my C-3P.O. Box!

BTW, Potato Head makers: We saw Darth Tater and the Spudtrooper . . . where are C-3POtato and R2-pota2?

Exactly... Unless there is some serious begging by some people for Lucas to do it, I dont think its happening for a while on HD/BD.

R2 Potat2 came out about a year ago and remains impossible to find. You can order one on Amazon.com for $11.99 plus shipping.

I've yet to hear of any more Star Wars potato heads outside of Vader / Trooper / R2.

What would really make this 30th anniversary year spectacular is if they decided to start making the C3P-O's cereal again. That was actually some good tasting stuff.

Hasbrotoyshop.com has it for $7.99 but you might want to compare shipping price options.

There are going to be at least 50 exclusives at the Convention in LA. Im a fan and collector, but i just dont feel like attending. I will hit the SDCC. As for 30th anniv, i cant believe its been that long. How time flies. Its been a great and expensive journey that will continue. They should do a Radio series for the prequel trilogy. I enjoyed the original radio series'
