A SoulCalibur movie is finally coming this year?

Given that there is already a DOA: Dead Or Alive movie (lots of fun, by the way), I was searching through Google to see if any progress had been made with the SoulCalibur movie adaptation that had been rumoured three years ago (it was supposedly to star Jackie Chan, Sammo Hung, and Yuen Biao back then) and came across these links: http://www.soulcaliburthemovie.com/
http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3149724

Sadly, Internet Explorer keeps on giving me some error with the latter link (I almost always have this problem when trying to access 1up). ANyone kind enough to post what the article says in this thread?

It can't be a good sign when a project sits on the shelf that long, but there are rumblings the fighting adaptation is actually moving forward. NeoGAF picked up on a link to www.soulcaliburthemovie.com, which contains a Flash-based teaser for an alleged Soul Calibur movie coming in 2007 from 2nd Degree Media.

A little investigation into 2nd Degree Media reveals they were working with Anthem Pictures on developing the Soul Calibur film, which, according to television and film tracking website Ross Reports, will shoot in Canada, Romania and China with Vijay P. Agarwal executive producing and Mickey Agarwal and Alan Noel Vega producing. None of the men involved have any substantial film credits if IMDB is to be believed.

The movie's website says the adaptation will be released sometime next year, and immediate requests for comment from Namco Bandai went unanswered. For now, it's entirely possible the film is simply dead in the water with a long forgotten teaser website, but the copyright at the bottom is labeled '2006,' suggesting the long-in-gestation Soul Calibur movie could finally be on the move.

No word on who's directing but I'll be keeping an eye out, that's for sure!

Thanks a lot, Fincher Fan. :)
Wow! "2001"? Boy was my memory off in terms of the year. Here's hoping it's done right and in the form of several installments rather than a single feature. The SoulEdge and SoulCalibur games have a pretty darn good story for a fighting game series. They really shouldn't try to cram it all (or all the characters, either) in one feature.
