What happened to Viggo's Spanish Pirate movie?

I was watching Master and COmmander recentley and remembered this movie. I dont recall the name of it but I do remember seeing a Spanish trailer and it looked awesome. What happened?

Alatriste. The Spanish R2 DVD has English subs and is out this week. I've no idea if or when a North American release is planned.
