I had heard alot of talk about the movie Men Behind the Sun -- so I watched it last night. It was a pretty rough film -- especially since it is based on true events. It did have probably the most disturbing scene I have ever witnessed in the movie:

Spoiler:
my goodness the cat scene was HORRIFIC and totally unnecessary to the film. this was a scene just put in to shock and repulse. shame on directors who feel they need to torture and kill REAL animals to make their movies. what made the scene even more awful was it dragged on and on and on. I had to turn my head a few times and lie to myself and say "this isn't a real cat".

There is also a scene with some animal getting eaten by a snake while it was tied to a pole or something like that...

I'm still not convinced that scene was real. Despite what the director says it just looked fake to me.

What exactly were you expecting? Sure ... because nothing written about the movie (from people who watched it and the filmmakers themselves) suggests that it contains vile acts of senseless violence.

sure it was vile (and faked), but I don't think I have ever seen anything as demented as the decompression room scene

Well I finally watch Cannibal Holocaust last night, it was a damn sicko movie...The people killing was not bad but the animal killing is what really got to me...People can kill each other but damn don't kill the poor animals! If there is any sicker movies out there I would be surprised!

I thought high tension was quite sickening.
I can sit through a lot, but some scenes had me churning.

It is definitely a movie where you ask yourself while watching it -- "Am I some sick bastard for watching this?" It is so hard for me to believe this movie is not banned EVERYWHERE. I am guessing the right people haven't seen it yet. It isn't really a movie, it is just as if you walked up on a strange videotape and put it in the VCR only to find you are viewing a group of serial killers video journal. There is no camera man per se...the killers take turns holding a camera while every thing is going on. You thought Blair Witch would give you motion sickness? LOL you haven't seen the "camera work" in this film. I can say this film accomplishes what it sets out to do -- disgust the living hell out of you. I mean this movie goes further than ANYTHING I have ever seen before. Like I said -- you won't believe what you will see in this film. Would I recommend this movie to anyone? Not really. I mean...I watched it because I had heard so much about it and I was curious. I don't know why, but I like to be able to say..."Oh yeah...I have seen that." To be honest I kind of feel ashamed that I watched it -- it was rough. LOL my wife would divorce me if knew I watched something that bad.
Thanks to another poster here I own an autographed copy (I wish I could remember who pointed me towards it, was it you TomOpus?), I honestly sometimes feel I should hide it away with the porn. I think it's the only DVD I own that is not alphabetized, its stuck way up top.

I know I've talked about it so it might've been myself. Not sure if you noticed but toetagpictures.com has 2 pre-orders available for the "Snuff" editions of Mordum and the 3rd chapter in the August Underground series: Penance. Both are loaded with extras and signed by cast/crew. They will ship around Apr 5th and limited to only 1,000 copies. They are also planning a boxset of all 3 movies with additional extras (for those that can't get enough ).

Oh, they are also in the process of moving from Pittsburgh to California (not sure which city but I would imagine the L.A. area).

I have to agree with some earlier posters that Irreversible was just too-o-o much for me to bear to watch. No horror movie could be any more scary to watch than this.

Jesus. I watched "Slither" on cable earlier tonight and I was thinking that was pretty gross (and a standout above the rest of the recent horror films). I've only followed the horror genre back through the more significant landmarks, really just Romero, so I have not delved into the old-school, gross-out exploitation stuff.

I don't think I shall.

In addition to those already cited, the Traces of Death series, Cutting Moments (which is brilliant), and many others I couldn't be bothered to look up right now (this topic has been driven into the ground here, so to speak).
But if you really want to see something that will disturb you for the rest of your life, look up the repulsive snuff video of the Russian soldier being beheaded by Chechen rebels. It is unimaginable that anyone who isn't a piece of trash without a conscience could do that to another human.

Re: The Sickest Horror Movie Ever...

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but had to share this with someone else!

Ok, I just watched a movie called "Cannibal" (2006) and it was hands down the most disturbing, sickening, vile, stomach-churning thing I have ever seen. I thought Salo was rough - does not compare. Have not seen Cannibal Holocaust, so don't know.

This movie was a VERY tough watch - in addition to the horrendous and utterly realistic gore, you are treated with more full male nudity than imaginable along with some gay sex on top of it. And every guy will be highly disturbed by at least one very nasty and realistic scene. Can't believe I watched this and what is worse, it is based on a true story (apparently). Not recommending it, but just passing it along to those who may be interested. First film in a long time that may me turn my head an actually get physically sick. If you had tol me that it was an actual snuff film, I would have believed it.

I rented it from Netflix, so if you are interested, it's there.

^ That's the movie the Southpark guys did, right? Never seen it, although after your mini-review I'm not sure if I want to!

No, I think he means Marian Dora's directorial debut, Cannibal.

I happen to like the movie. It's extremely effective.

That is the one. And you are right - it is very effective, but difficult to watch. It might have helped if I was a bit prepared for it, but who knows. Although I thought it was tough to sit through, I couldn't turn it off, so I guess I liked it as well. Just a bit shocking!!

The sickest I've seen are movies from the "Guinea Pig" series.

The story it was based on is equally as fucked.

There was another movie based on the same case called Grimm Love with Thomas Kretschmann as the killer. It was boring as balls.

Re: The Sickest Horror Movie Ever...

Cannibal Holocaust. I thought it was going to be an 80s suspense/horror movie with the protaganists trying to survive some 13th Warrior type cannibals.
Instead it was a movie within a movie with bad acting and real animals are tortured and killed in a failed attempt to make the fake killing of the actors look more real.

Re: The Sickest Horror Movie Ever...

I guess the old thread on vile movies finally cycled out of sight. So where are all the sickos from that thread

Just look up the works of Daisuke Yamanouchi. That dude makes Miike look like Miyazaki.
