...I do actually think it's the definitive prision movie. You have Shawhank and Papillon.

Probably in my top 50. Though I've never cared enough to make a list.

for those who love the movie, you should really read the book, it's pure magic. It's also a short novella so it's a breeze to read.

I only keep a top ten list and it's not on it. Pretty good movie, though.

You see, there's an inherent problem with Arpeggi listing 300 films. By the time we got to the 3rd film on the list, the topic would have switched to Liverpool.

It's definitely among my all-time favorite films, but I have many of those.

Proof that Oscars for Best Picture are not as timeless as any film ever nominated for it or any other film ever made, should have won the Oscar for BP. One of the best films ever and is easily in my top 5 all-time! A true classic film!

Nowhere near my top 10 and that's as high as I can count. I prefer King's original novella myself, less in-your-face sentimental.

Man what an over-rated flick. I mean, it's *good*, but it's nowhere near the elevated realm of superiority with which people seem to regard it. So it's nowhere near my Top 10, Top 100, or even Top 500.

I could. Easily. Just because people don't share your ***OPINION*** doesn't make them elitists. It just means they think for themselves. Try it sometime.

It's an excellent film, though it isn't one of my all-time favorites. I could name off a few prison movies that I enjoy more but then I'd probably be called a pretentious elitist.

I can certainly understand why a lot of people love the film and consider it among their favorites.

The Shawshank Redemption is an excellent movie, but it's not one of my favorites. As a previous poster mentioned, there were a lot of excellent films that came out that year.
