2007 Golden Globes Discussion Thread. (Movie Edition)
20 minutes and counting.
I really like the GG's. It is all about the awards. No routines, schtick, dance #'s. Just celebs and awards. Pretty good night imo.
Just hope the ones that I want win, if not i'll still enjoy, but will be mildly disappointed.

and now Eddie Murphy for the same movie...and Meryl Streep for Devil Wears Prada
this is all pretty low.
this is all pretty low.
Having said that, Eddie Murphy was the best thing about Dreamgirls. So I'm happy for him. He's as deserving as anyone else.

Forest Whitaker was really taken aback, he needed a few moments to collect himself.
I'm surprised that Babel won for the best film (drama).

I guess she is in love with Andy Garcia.

The Departed didn't do much at the GGs other than Scorsese's win, and the Hollywood Foreign Press has a hard on for him, so that's no surprise. I am a little surprised at Babel's win, though it looks like Dreamgirls will be a big force too.

Babel is surprising win but Dreamgirls??????????
Hopefully, this GG award for Best Director isn't a "we love Scorsese but we know he won't win the Oscar this year cuz it's going to Clint" type of thing.
Outside of that, a quick show.

Not sure why everyone is shocked to see Dreamgirls nominated for/picking up awards. It's been listed as one of the awards-season favorites in just about every article or website I've seen. I haven't seen the movie so I have no opinion on it one way or another, but its 'award potential' has been shoved down everyone's throats for quite some time.
