Wow, Arthur and the Invisibles couldn't even eek out $1 mil.

With so much garbage on that list it is a shame more people are not seeing Children of men....

It's sad that the gross of Good Shepherd is only 50 mil. I really enjoyed it.

I'm surprised Alpha Dogs didn't do better. I couldn't walk from my bedroom to my living room without seeing an advertisement for it. And it had the super marketable Justin Timberlake. I guess the movie just sucks that bad.
I have yet to see Pursuit of Happyness, but it must be getting great word of mouth with the strong legs its standing on. |

If many saw it then that would probably do more damage to future BO of foreign films. People may not take the chance again to watch a subtitled action film because of a past experience where they wound up having to read the entire time with very little action. I just wish people would get past the attitude that subtitled films aren't worth watching, because they're missing so many amazing films - and it makes it more difficult for people who love them to be able to watch them. |
Just dub them if they want to make more $$. The story is still the same & people can just sit back and enjoy it instead of having to keep focusing on the bottom of the screen. Before anyone gets their panties in a bunch, American films are dubbed into other languages all the time so if someone sobs in a cornor because the director's masterpiece was altered, US directors have their work altered all the time and I don't see any of them whining about it.
I think it would be pretty funny if when they subtitle a film, they put the words into comic book style word bubbles. |

I think it would be pretty funny if when they subtitle a film, they put the words into comic book style word bubbles. Subs don't bother me, usually forget I'm looking at them (most movies have simplified subs, which is both annoying and fitting, since you barely have to glance at them), and am able to better focus on the movie without being distracted by the goofy desyncing and miscasting. Glad they kind of caught on, at least thus far (Guess it's in large thanks to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and Amelie, both which showed with Subtitles, and I think grossed more than any dubbed movie has.) The downfall being, I now have a tendency to turn on subs for english stuff every once in a while. Amazing how many small details you pick up. |

I can watch dubbed cartoons though, since yeah, far less distracting in regards to look and sync.

 to Pan's Labyrinth's $10,680 per screen average.

I actually want to see Arthur and the Invisibles, the animation looks really impressive from the trailer.
