The Specialist with Sly, Sharon Stone, and James Woods

Maybe it's just me, but isn't that an awesome movie?

Sly vs James Woods is a great match up, Woods is a real maniac in that, and I thought Sly and Sharon Stone had good chemistry too. It's a nice tight plot, plent of explosions, sex, and over the top action.

I'd take The Specialist over several recent Academy Award winners, America Beauty, Chicago, Crash, Shakespeare in Love, all are GARBAGE compared to The Specialist.

That's a nice Walleye. I caught one about that size on a jig and minnow a couple years ago.

Artman 11-29-06 09:04 PM

Well I suppose a senior member can get away with these every now and then...

I actually liked the Specialist... when I was 14.

Tarantino 11-29-06 09:18 PM

I haven't seen it since it came out on VHS, but I liked it. Then again, I was a little kid.

The only thing I remember is there was a hot shower scene between Stone and Stallone.

No, I'm pretty sure it's just you. ;)

Seriously, this is my least favorite Stallone flick...and that's saying a lot.

Wow, that's harsh.

Woods: "...and get a new shirt" Always liked that line. :)

Actually, I'd agree with all of those except Crash.

I prefer Assassins to The Specialist. Similar sorts of films and released about a year apart, but Assassins was just more fun. Of course, Assassins had Richard Donner and the Wachowskis behind it.

Actually, i'd agree with all of those especially Crash.

When I was 7, the girl that played one of the hookers used to live across the street from me. We were both sad she was moving away. Who know Miami could turn her out so bad?

I agree with you 100 percent i enjoyed Specialist more than any of those award winning movies. i enjoyed the first half of Assassins but the second half of the movie was boring while they waited at the Bank.

DJariya 11-30-06 12:42 PM

The Specialist???
For me this movie was all visuals with very little substance.

The sex scene with Stallone and Stone in the shower was very weak. It wasn't sexy at all. They has zero chemistry together.

Defiant1 11-30-06 10:24 PM

And all you got to really see was Sly's veiny butt!

You like this more than "Demolition Man"?

You afraid of the shells?

Da Badass 12-01-06 09:25 AM

I can't stand seeing Sharon Stone in movies. Sher was only good in one scene in Basic Instinct. You know which one! I'd hope my mom dies before I have to see that dumb ass bitch in another movie.

jdslater1 12-02-06 10:06 PM

I like this film aswell. Rod Steiger is so over the top, but really this is Woods' film.
I like the ending when they go in the warehouse.
Woods reaction to the Bomb Van being blown up is brilliant!
I really like Demolition Man and Assasains. Well I didn't Assasians straight away but enjoyed it better whenever they show it on TV. Demolition Man was the first film I ever saw in the states so it has sentimental reasons for me!

The only good memory I have of this movie was right after it came out on VHS. My girlfriend was coming over to eat dinner with my family and she hated my folks as much as they hated her. They asked me to pick a movie we could all watch together so that way my parents didn't have to talk to my girlfriend while we ate. Of course I picked this movie and by the time the shower scene came on my parents excused themselves and we enjoyed th rest of the film without adult supervision.

The Bus 12-04-06 10:09 AM

I saw this when it came out on video. It was worse than Fair Game.

I remember that when this came out, The Professional did as well. Similar sounding titles. Except The Specialist was terrible.

JumpCutz 12-04-06 07:48 PM

Sorry Jadow but 'The Specialist' is a bad film. A very bad film.

Then again it got a 4% positive rating at RT.
