Looks pretty good, Bale is crazy as a mother fucker in it judging from that trailer.
Funny how they blur out the labels on the beer and stuff.

Bale chewing scenery =

I am skeptical though. Looks like it could be another crappy training day wannabe (which I didn't think was that great of a movie in the first place)

I'll see anything Bale is in.

Glad to see Freddy Rodriguez getting some starring roles.

This movie looks good to me. Bale is great in all his roles. Plus it has a large Latino cast, gotta support mi gente.

judging by his exposure lately, you might as well just pitch a tent in the lobby of your local theater.

yeah really.

i thought it looks interesting from the trailer. looked pretty dark, lots of shadowing, etc.

not to mention eva's look and eye candy factor

Looks like TRAINING DAY: TRAINING HARDER to me, and the fact that it's being released by MGM (which has a one good movie to fifteen pieces of shit ratio) gives me little hope...

I love Bale's work but this looks terrible.

Umm, if you're gonna claim being Latino, you should probably be able to spell words in spanish correctly.

Should read "mi gente."

I hit 'H', meant 'G'. I guess typing errors don't exist in your world.

Glad to see Rico get some roles! I'll see anything an SFU cast member is in! Bale is just a bonus.

Christian Bale: yep
Christian Bale acting fucking nuts: double yep
Hot women: triple yep
Rap soundtrack: meh

I'll see it in the theater, as I've enjoyed all of Bale's other movies. I'm just hoping the rap music is minimal.

Ditto on that thought.

Appears that this is seeing a limited release on Nov. 10th, presumably going wide a week or two later.

For what it's worth, this was released in UK theaters (to fair reviews) several months ago and the R2 DVD is on Dec. 26th.

That's interesting. I wonder how audiences in the UK react to movies like this with the "inner city" setting and all.

Well shit.....

Importing could save me the trouble of going to the theater.

I was lucky enough to see Harsh Times during the 2005 Toronto Film Fest. Bale and Freddy Rodriguez are both excellent in the movie and it was pretty intense throughout. The trailer reminds a lot of people of Training Day because they both have the same writer. I will admit that the two films do have a similar feel. Nonetheless it's worth a look based on the performances alone.

I just saw this yesterday and thought it was absolute shit. I didn't know that Bale was possible of such a poor performance. It was plodding and uninteresting, the two hours felt like I was there all freaking day. I was real excited to see this and IMHO it turned out to be one of the year's worst films. An extreme disappointment, if it gets any wider release I'll be shocked.

Looks like Dark Blue 2.

I liked this a lot
No story, just hanging out with these crazy characters. Thought it was entertaining, over-the-top fun

While I had fun watching Christian Bale and Freddy Rodriguez chew up the scenery in this film with an aimlessly thin plotline, after seeing Bale's name as an exec producer, I have to chalk this film up as a vanity acting project for him because he truly has a blast hamming it up on the screen.

The first 2/3 of the film is unabashedly a testosterone-unleashed slacker buddy-buddy flick, and then it gets much darker and chaotic for the characters.

It's worth a matinee if you like either of the 2 main actors, just go along for the ride and don't ascribe too much common sense to either of them.

I give it 2.5 stars, or a grade of C+.
