To each is own. I purchased the DVD a while back (a Suncoast near me is closing its doors permantly so they broke release dat way early) and I still enjoyed this movie a great deal. I still stand by my previous assessment of the film.

Does every Dean Devlin historical war movie have to include an african american solider, who is resented by others because of the color of his skin, but by the end of the film, the other soldiers that hated him are able to look past the color of his skin and see the true person underneath?

Yes.

I just watched this last night. Although the aerial scenes were amazing, and it was very cool to see the landscape below, the whole story seemed kind of lame. The only thing that at all convinced me they were in WWI was the uniforms and planes. The way they spoke certainly didn't. James Franco was unconvincing as a young man for that era. If this was a current war movie, I'd be hard pressed to notice the difference in the way he approached it, save for a lot of cuss words.

Anyways, enjoyed it for the most part. Was kind of bummed with the end and Lucienne.
