Movies that were overrated because of the twist.

What movies did you think were overrated just because they had a surprise ending or some kind of twist in the movie ? Mine is the very popular Pulp Fiction.

Twist? Pulp Fiction had a twist? When/Where?

My pick the dreadfully dull The Sixth Sense.

Sixth Sense was the first one to come to my mind as well. Without the "twist" (though I saw it right at the beginning...
Spoiler:
it was obvious they killed Bruce Willis
) it's a OK movie at best.

"Pulp Fiction" did not have a twist ending. In fact, it's almost impossible to have a twist ending, or a true ending at all, in a film with a non-linear narrative.

Wow, I was simply going to come in here and ask what exactly does "Overrated" means because it's a word that just gets tossed out there to sort of naysay a film and well.. the only possible reason a film can be overrated if it didn't deserve what the MPAA gave it.

But now the Pulp Fiction critic seems like the topic is not because of a twist but simply because it was raved by many critics and enjoyed by many.

To me the twist in Pulp Fiction was that the entire movie was out of sequence. I guess your right in that it isn't really a twist ending. My point about Pulp Fiction is that if the movie was presented in order it would not have recieved nearly as much praise.

Anyway, I don't want to make this thread only be about Pulp Fiction so anyone else have movies they think were overrated because of the ending ?

Does double-posting twice in a single post qualify as a twist ending?

I think it does count as a twist since I didn't even notice that. Fixed.

Hah! I get it now;

In Pulp Fiction, they had a "twist" contest!

Great thread. almost had me for a second there.

"Beach Blanket Bingo" had a lot of twisting, but I didn't think it was a very good movie.

Probably have to go with Saw. Good flick and all, but I saw edit: part of the twist from a mile away - and yet, a load of the people I've talked with didn't see it coming.

I've never believed a single person that said they predicted the twist in Saw, and I'm not about to start. There is NOTHING to suggest that would happen, nothing to base that on, except sheer guess. If you are saying you "guessed" randomly and with no basis that he was xx xxx xxxx, then fine, but that's it.

Lucky Number Slevin

I could see the twist coming from 52.67 miles away.

I will also call BS. Absolutely nothing tells you the twist.

The Usual Suspects. Everyone raves about the twist but nobody ever stops to think that the twist makes the rest of the movie vastly less interesting ... pointless, in fact. It's the modern day equivalent of "Oh, it was all just a dream after all!"
