Favorite Vietnam war movie
 

Only ones that take place in nam for the majority of the movie. For me it was tough to pick between Apocalypse Now or We Were Soldiers, one is like the Odyssey the other is said to be the most realistic one by the 'nam vets. Full Metal Jacket was very solid, but i went with Apoc Now.

For me it would have to be Platoon. That movie just worked.

My vote is for Good Morning, Vietnam.

Out of the actual choices in the poll, I'd probably have to vote for Full Metal Jacket simply because there are so many memorabel quotes. Platoon and Apocalypse now would be a close second / third.

Of the ones on the list Platoon is definately first, although We Were Soldiers is a close 2nd but I don't think it really gives a good feel of what people typically think of as a Vietnam movie.

That partial list just shows how many great Vietnam films that were actually made. I like alot of those, but Platoon would be the one I'd watch more often and recommend to others.

Apocalypse now just didnt work for me, I dont know why. I voted for Platoon.

As far as movie goes, I'm glad most of us here choose Platoon over Full Metal Jacket. I voted Apocalypse Now for its artistic (pretentious or not) and passionate value.
