Academy adds 120 members..

Little Dakota Fanning has become a major player in Hollywood after being named among the 120 new members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences. The 12-year-old will join Joaquin Phoenix, Felicity Huffman, Jake Gyllenhaal and Crash star Terrence Howard among the non Academy Award winners who can now vote at the Oscars.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which has often been accused of being an old-man's club that is out of touch with the sensibilities of young filmmakers, has invited 120 actors, directors, producers, composers and other young industry members to fill the vacancies of those who have died or retired. Among those invited to join the group that hands out the Oscars each year is the 12-year-old actress Dakota Fanning. Others include actors Heath Ledger, Jake Gyllenhaal, Joaquin Phoenix, Dolly Parton, Keira Knightley and Rachel Weisz; German director Werner Herzog; composer Dario Marianelli; producer Cathy Schulman; screenwriter Jean-Claude Carrière; and Japanese animator Hayao Miyazaki.

I at least think there should be an minimum age of 18. Dakota Fanning may be a talented young girl, but come on.

I agree with a post above that said there should be a minimum age of at least 17 or 18. After all, that is how old you must be to see a rated R film unaccompanied. Look at last years best pic nominees. Crash, Munich, Capote, Good Night, and Brokeback. The only one she could watch without her parents is Good Night and Good Luck and she would probably just keep asking why it was in black and white. Good education really. She can learn about corrupt politicians and how to fight back, racist people of all colors, political assinations, homosexuals obsessed with demon-filled criminals, and homosexuals obsessed with sheep. Along with men wanting to be women, pimps beating bitches while looking greasy, and gangsters wanting to murder their 69 enjoying brothers. Awesome!

I agree. Academy members should at least be old enough to watch any Best Picture nominees, no matter what rating it's given. As it is, it's recommended that Dakota Fanning watch Harry Potter pictures with the guidance of her parents. What the fuck is she doing in the AMPAS?

Three 6 Mafia got an Oscar, and they should be members now. But they weren't asked to be.
