Roger Ebert is in serious condition - don't worry, he's not dead, he's getting better

Anyway get well Ebert. I enjoy his perspective on films and look forward to hearing many more.

Criminy, calm down. Is this your first week on these forums? With such delicate sensibilities, you'd better not go into the Other or Political forums.
I'm not hoping for Ebert's death, I hope he lives another 50 healthy years.
right back atcha.

I wish all the best to Ebert, but I just want to ask something about his wife's statement that appeared on rogerebert.com:
"Enveloped in healing light"? Don't take this the wrong way, but do people in America actually say stuff like this?
Medical issues aside, I am asking you to pray for Roger during his period of recovery and to visualize him being enveloped in healing light.

Usually, no. But there are some.

And it's hardly limited to Americans.

That's insensitive! You're a weight-ist!

Ebert didn't write any reviews for the new movies opening this week, but on his website they have links to the reviews that the Sun-Times is running.
None of the Sun-Times new reviews were by Richard Roeper.
If anybody here could tell me why not, that would be great, but mostly I just wanted to register my confusion.

Sometimes he'll talk about movies in his columns, but he's not their actual film critic.

The Sun-Times has just one film critic, and that's Roger Ebert.
Richard Roeper is a columnist for the paper, and he is Ebert's movie reviewing partner on TV, so it's surprising to me that Roeper wasn't enlisted to do the reviews in Ebert's absence.
Instead the reviews were done by the guy who writes the entertainment news (gossip) column, some staff writer, and a freelance critic.
I think that's odd.

I'm not fussed either way, i don't know him, there are millions of critically ill people in the world, i don't go boohoo over each of them.

As much as God may want a Siskel and Ebert reunion in heaven, hopefully he pulls through and gives us a few more good reviews, and some of those crappy ones to crappy films with big boobs in them.
