I definitely agree with Kubrick and Cronenberg.

Wes Anderson is another good choice. Dario Argento, Brad Anderson, Darren Aronofsky, Sidney Lumet, and Martin Scorsese. All are consistent in my eyes and very solid directors.

I'd have to add Lucio Fulci as he is my favorite but that would be biased on my part.

Well I love his characters but other than Almost Famous I think he's good but not great... BY the way are you thread crapping my well disguised thread crap? Brutal man, brutal. -ohbfrank-

Michael Bay - you pretty know what you're going to get with him at the directing helm.

Well i agree with all who said Kubrick. I am a huge fan of his films and am reading his biography again at the moment for the 5th time.

The other director that comes to mind is Christopher Nolan. I think his work has been exceptional so far and i look forward to any new film he has coming out.

As others, Kubrick is whom I immediately thought of. I don't think he ever made a bad movie. He does have the advantage in this particular category, however, by not being nearly as prolific as many other great directors.
