Yes, let's do that.
Unless you mean 3 3/4" tall figures with no detail and only five points of articulation.

I love seeing the snow trooper be saved by the medical droid. "When the Force is with you, it's your duty to do good."

"I smell an astronaut!"

How many times can a commercial get away with playing a crappy version of Also Sprach Zarathustra? At Mego in the early '70s, as many times as you damn well please.

Was anyone else reminded during these commercials of Jean Shepherd's Christmas Story voice-overs?

"Where am I? What kind of place is this, where apes are the ruling class? Was there no end to the abuse heaped upon Red Ryder and his peacemaker?"

Early action-figure marketing was SERIOUSLY cheesy.

The New Admiral Ackbar figure:

Funny to see how they were in such a hurry to get the merchandise out that they were still using the title "Revenge of the Jedi".

The new Greedo, Walrus Man, Hammerhead action figures:

OMG...I actually remember this commercial.

Droid Factory (with first-ever R2-D2 with third leg):

OMG #2...I seem to remember actually owning this!

Imperial Transport (never-seen in the movies):

OMG #3...My best friend at the time owned this thing, and we sat in his bedroom one day with the transport and all the action figures and re-enacted the entire Star Wars movie into a tape recorder. We used the transport for sound effects. One of my biggest regrets is that I don't still have that tape. It was some of the funniest crap ever to come out of a couple pre-teen goofballs. I was actually trying to do the lines/scenes semi-seriously, and he kept ad-libbing stupid stuff and cracking me up, and intentionally pushing the wrong buttons on the transport at the wrong times.

Thanks for the memories.

Dr. Zaius, the Orangatan scientist. Zira, the WOMAN scientist.

EDIT: I like how the one commercial basically retells the entire Planet of the Apes movie. "What kind of planet is that were Apes are the ruling class?! They're going to to operate on me and make a me a slave, I must escape! Whew, I got away from the apes, but where am I? *cue Statue of Liberty* OH NO!!!"

Mego was really keen on recycling everything they could. They used the same playsets over and over. Note how Dinah Mite's beach house was taken over by the Apes. Of course, Dinah had swiped the house from Action Jackson to begin with.

I wonder if this is considered "canon"?

Does youtube have the Darth Vader carrying case commercial with Christian Slater? I couldn't find it

-edited to add: don't drink anything when you watch that 2nd commercial. You'll spit it out all over your computer.

Ha, that's great.

And I'm not saying they're lying or anything, but I have my doubts as to whether the Mr. Fantastic and The Invisible Girl toys actually possess the powers of invisibility.

Although I wish The Thing toy was invisible.

What's worse is that when the Falcon doll was first manufactured, Mego cut manufacturing costs by reusing the molds of the brown, hairy ape hands from the Soldier Ape POTA dolls. For years their only black action figure had the hands of a primate.
