The World Series (MLB) in a movie ever shown?

After thinking about all the baseball movies i've seen in my life, it's come to my attention that not one of them featured a game played in The World Series. Major League 1/2, Rookie Of The Year, Little Big League, etc...

Is there a reason as to why the World Series is never shown in a movie? Or am I just missing out on the films that do include it?

The Scout, with Brendan Fraser and Al Brooks, found Steve Nebraska pitching (and hitting!) in Game 1 of the World Series, Yanks vs. Cards.

There's also the movie about the 1919 Black Sox scandal. Eight Men Out

Frequency (Dennis Quaid, Jim "Jesus" Caviezel) - 1969 New York Mets vs. Baltimore O's.

This is an awesome example because the '69 Series played such a key role in the film itself. I don't think there's a more prominant (or maybe any other, for that matter) example of a *real* World Series that was so pertinent to the plot of a non-baseball movie.

It Happens Every Spring

The Winning Team

But you're right, many of them go through to winning or losing the pennant but don't get into the World Series. Damn Yankees and Bang the Drum Slowly come to mind. The latter did have a mention at the end of what happened in the fictional World Series but none of it was shown.

What about Game 6? I guess no one has seen it yet.

"Combining real and fictional events, Game 6 centers around the historic 1986 World Series and a day in the life of a playwright who skips opening night to watch the momentous game."

I've heard about it, but haven't seen it yet. The trailer looks cool (it looks like they use lots of real W.S. footage).

If I'm not mistaken, "Taking Care of Business" had Jim Belushi busting out of prison to watch the Cubs-Angels World Series.....but I could be wrong about that. I saw that movie like 5000 times on HBO, I should remember it.

That was one of the reasons I liked TCoB so much... it's the only time I'll ever get to see my Cubbies in the World Series!
