Most commonly used saying to come from a movie?

not your most favorite saying or line from a movie, but the phrase/saying that came from a movie and is now in the pop culture lexicon and used too many times to name.

I was flipping through channels and on the Discovery Channel a guy exclaimed "yeah baby!" as was done by Michael Myers' "Austin Powers". I mean i hear that one all the time everywhere and anywhere.

So what is the most popular saying from a movie that is now in the vocabulary of most the world?

I've heard "I am your father" from SW:ESB being used on tons of movies/shows.

"You just don't get it, do you?"

I HATE that line. I've heard it so often...I want to round up all TV and movie writers and sack them all. So many writers use it, and I bet no one has ever said it real life.

Johnny Boy 06-10-06 03:25 PM

"We've got company!"

If I hear that again in a movie or a cartoon I'm going to slap my father in the face.

Mole177 06-10-06 03:45 PM

"get down"

i was thinking that as well, but i think that is more used as an homage rather than actually seeping into everday conversation.

"Alrighty then" - Ace Ventura Pet Detective

Nick Martin 06-10-06 06:47 PM

"Let's get out of here"

and its variations:

'Let's the the hell out of here'

'Let's get the fuck out of here'

and sometimes 'out of' is pronounced 'outta'.

Popular in terms of being memorable like "I'll Be Back" - hardly, but it's used all the time.

Actually, I use it a lot. Usually when arguing with my wife.

At any rate my vote is for:

Make my day.
or
Do you feel lucky?

Variants include "I'm too old for this shit," uttered by Danny Glover in Lethal Weapon 2 AND that Indian dude in Con-Air.

I would have to think "There IS no tomorrow!" from Rocky III ranks right up there, at least in common parlance.
