movie poster recommendations?

I want to get 4 movie posters to put up in the living room. My roommate and I came up with these 4 together but now I'm second guessing and am looking for some recommendations of some other cool posters. Here are the 4 we came up with.

Raiders of the Lost Ark
Jaws
Saving Private Ryan
Transformers the Movie

Raiders and Jaws are kinda no brainers and Transformers is a guilty pleasure for both of us. Saving Private Ryan's poster just looks cool. I really like Alien but he nixed that for some reason. I don't really know why. Some other possibilities we came up with were Reservoir Dogs, Full Metal Jacket and Rain Man. Anyway, if you had to pick 4 movie posters what would they be? Please don't mention Scarface because I already decided that I don't want to be like every other dude on cribs.

There have been about a thousand threads on movie posters. Check out search first.

lcnickell 06-07-06 10:37 PM

I only own 4 posters. so that'd be easy for me

texas Chainsaw- original '74 release
dawn of the dead- green lettering
Summer Camp Nightmare
Swinging Cheerleaders

I did a search and I found some threads on where to get them. I didn't find any about which posters were favorites of some people here.

Ok. I take that back. I did find a thread that dealt with what posters people own. Still, I'm trying to narrow it down to 4 and wanted to get some input.

How much do you think you'll spend?

Are you looking for repros?

I know Jaws and Raiders are three figures.

Legolas 06-08-06 01:40 AM

I personally like the L.A. Confidential poster.

NatrlBornThrllr 06-08-06 04:51 AM

At this point in my life, if I had to pick four movie posters to hang in the living room of my apartment, they'd be:

I also have one for Lost in Translation with Bill Murray sitting on his bed, although the Scarlett one is much cooler (and harder to find).

I think I'm just looking for reprints although an original Jaws or Raiders would be pretty sweet.

devilshalo 06-08-06 12:57 PM

As much as I love the movie, the Jaws poster feels very dated.

I'm going thru the same thing with my living room. It's got mocha walls with white crown molding and dark red crushed velvet drapes and the furniture has an asian theme. So I was thinking of...

<img src="http://www.sevenswordsthefilm.com/traditional/download/CharPoster/images/4sheets_eng.jpg" height=300> <img src="http://www.sevenswordsthefilm.com/traditional/download/CharPoster/images/Hori_Poster_eng.jpg" width=300> <img src="http://image2.sina.com.cn/ent/d/2005-12-06/U1512P28T3D919138F326DT20051206134254.jpg" height=300> <img src="http://www.g-film.com/hb/2005wj6.jpg" width=300> <img src="http://www.monkeypeaches.com/pix/050926cm.jpg" height=300>

Granted, if I can find any of these without breaking the bank...

Your selections are a bit Spielberg-heavy, don't you think?

Yeah they are. That's why I was thinking of replacing Saving Private Ryan and now that I thought about it some more Transformers might need to get replaced too. Like I said it's a guilty pleasure but do I really want that on my wall? I like the look of Alien a lot. I was also thinking about an original King Kong, but after looking at them none of them really jump out at me. I'm having a hard time finding the one I always thought I liked.

deadlax 06-08-06 06:40 PM

Pick the posters you like the most from your favorite movies. They shouldn't be used as a film school lesson, just out there to reflect your taste.

Supermallet 06-08-06 08:16 PM

Another cool thing would be to get posters of Giger's design drawings for Alien:

http://www.alienvspredator2.com/imag...ns_cockpit.jpg
http://www.alienvspredator2.com/imag...in-cockpit.jpg
http://www.alienvspredator2.com/imag...iger_Alien.jpg

I am positive some of these have been reprinted as posters. Some of them are even for sale at his website.

The reoncstruction poster is nice, but the danish is better! :)

NatrlBornThrllr 06-09-06 06:42 AM

I like that Reconstruction poster. I think I'll go watch that movie now...it's been a few months since I've last seen it.
