"Wicker Man" staring Nicholas Cage
As being reported by Fangoria:
"May 27: Neil LaBute readies WICKER MAN remake
The Internet Movie Database is reporting that the WICKER MAN remake to be directed by Neil (THE SHAPE OF THINGS) LaBute is moving forward with Nicolas Cage starring. Cage will play the Edward Woodward role of a policeman searching for a missing girl who winds up on an island inhabited by a pagan society—though the setting will be switched from Britain to America. LaBute outlined a further change in the story: “Nick’s character ends up [among] a very matriarchal society whose members are direct descendants of the Pilgrims. Angelina Jolie and Winona Ryder would be two great choices. It’s a great film for actresses.” Of course, after Jolie grabbed the GIRL, INTERRUPTED Oscar Ryder was shooting for, they might not want to have those two on the same set, but in any case, no start date has been set yet for the Universal project."

Descendants of the pilgrams? Somehow, I think it makes more sense to keep the movie set in Britain, but oh well. Not looking forward to this, even though I liked the original.

My favorite part is:
Yeah, great choices...if you don't want me to see the movie. Excuse me but the original movie had hot chicks in it.

Jesus H Christ on a cracker....i'm getting so friggin sick of these remakes....what a horrible awful terrible idea. If I want to see Wicker Man, the original is the one and only choice....no one could touch Brit Eklund's performance!
(and yes i know she had a 'double' for the "best" part of her dance....doesn't matter )

Sounds more like "Harvest Home" than "Wicker Man."

Are they still remaking this still? It's not on imdb anymore.
Just saw the original based on recommendations from this forum, wow, one of the creepiest movies I have ever seen, quite a bit of gratuitous nudity though, the end of the movie totally surprised me, excellent 9/10
On a side note:
I went to imdb.com to read some of the comments about it, the one that comes up by default is this guy that absolutely hated this movie, I proceeded to go through his other comments, its like he has the totally opposite taste in movies I do, it annoyed the hell out of me, everyone should have my opinions

The Shape of Things.. The Mercy Seat.. Your Friends and Neighbors.. Nurse Betty...
Wicker Man?
Neil LaBute, what in the hell has happened to your sense of taste? Leave it like it is -- good, and full of Christopher Lee fun.

I'm all for this remake actually.
Throw in Christopher Lee and I'm golden.
I'd rather see an adult Hollywood remake of an interesting classic (granted it stays true to the material) than numerous amounts of crap that gets put out every week.
Oh, and Angelina Jolie and Wynona are quite hot. Wynona could pull off the sexy school teacher thing no problem, and Angelina could be my naked dancing temptress any day of the week.

Nicolas Cage, who I hate above all others, makes me want to vomit blood. The idea of him starring in a remake of one of my favorite films makes me want to then crap blood on my vomited blood.
And since it'll be a major Hollywood project, you can bet your bippy they'll change the ending.
Then again, if they bring back Ingrid Pitt, I may stop my whining.

could we please get some real movie and not rehashes! Im sick and tired of it! Next thing you know they'll be remaking Rosemary's Baby with Britney Spears playing the mother and make it into a musical. I can already see the #1 hit from the soundtrack: "Satan stole ma baby!"

Well, CARRIE has been remade, and also turned into a Broadway musical ...... anything is possible.

This sounded stupid untill I heard Neil LeBute is involved.
You guys are really selling this short. He's a brilliant director and I doubt he would be approaching this project if he didn't have something to bring to the material that made it worth seeing again.
