Anybody going in expecting this to be Wedding Crashers II is just not going to like it. This is a very different rom-com, if you can even call it that. It's very refreshing. I was a little bit thrown off with the more serious moments happening towards the end of the film, but I thought it was very good. Definitely recommended.

I enjoyed the movie a lot more than i thought. Both characters showed flaws in how they handled the breakup. The supporting cast was also solid. As for the ending...i loved it.

Wow. I've just finished seeing this having rented it. It didn't live up to my expectations at all, but I really liked it. It's like getting right hooked when you really don't see it coming. The marketing is very misleading. It's barely a comedy... instead, it's a very involving dramedy with a few lighter moments to ease the tension. I loved the way it takes all your preconceptions about the romantic comedy and one by one refutes them in favour of something that seems more realistic, and the way everything pans out in the end was both unexpected and satisfying. All these things aren't not going to make for high entertainment or pull in the huge box office numbers, but it's a very brave choice on the filmmaker's part to do what he did and I applaud him for it. I thought both Aniston and Vaughn (though he was a little strained in some scenes) were very good.

I know what you mean about it not being so much a comedy. The people behind us got very uncomfortable during the first fight scene (it was VERY real), and said "WTF" and left. A few people left later in the movie, probably not because it was bad, but because it was not what they expected. It's one thing to expect an action movie and get a drama, but not a comedy and get a drama.

I thought it was great. I watched it about two months back. I wasn't sure what I was expecting since it was so long since I saw trailers, but Aniston and Vaughn did a hell of a job on those fight scenes. Very real.
I also loved the realistic ending, that doesn't happen very often in movies.

I went because of my wife, but liked it far more than she did. She said it just depressed the hell out of her and I was engaged the whole way through. I also thought it was a lot funnier than most of the posts I've read. I think the comedy came from the real sense of tension they were able to create. I thought they did a real good job of injecting some purely funny scenes (bowling alley, Favreau bar scene) that helped lighten the mood.
But man, my wife was FUCKING PISSED to the point that it really ruined the movie for what Vaughn did at the concert (trying not to spoil anything too bad).
I also agree a lot that the ending fit very well for what the rest of the movie was. Whenever anybody asks me what my favorite "chick flick" is, I usually say this, even though it would be awfully hard to categorize it as such.
