I'm not entirely sure why Craig has so many detractors either. Watching Layer Cake (or L4yer cake) makes me think he could be good in the role. Whether he is or isn't won't be know for a few more months, however.
I'm thinking the reason for all the bitching is that this is the first new Bond since the internet really took off (Brosnan was named in the internet's early days), so it's just normal for the re-cast of a major part. If the internet was in full force when others were named, I suspect we might be seeing a similar result.

I liked what I saw from the trailer. Of course it's just a trailer, but I thought it set a pretty good tone, looking forward to November.
Just a little sidenote, I was reading his "trivia" section on the imdb and it says he's being considered for Rorschach in the Watchmen movie? I gotta say I like that casting if it's true.
