I predict 'Wedding Crashers' will win everything it's been nominated for.

Their "nominations" and categories are probably more entertaining that the show itself could ever be.

MTV Movie Awards are always very entertaining. Depending on who is hosting, the opening sequence is usually worth tuning into.

Owen Wilson in Wedding Crashers? I don't remember him doing anything funny at all. It's been awhile, but I remember thinking how under-utilized from a comedic standpoint he was.

Yep, pathetic. I believe it was mentioned earlier that the MTV awards are worthless....

I would have also selected Cillian Murphy for best villian ....but for playing Jackson Rippner in "Red Eye".

I'd complain about how stupid the MTV awards are, but I saw all the movies nominated for best picture --unlike the Oscars where I had only seen one.

I see it the other way. I thought the T-Rex fight was completely overdone, much like the stampede scene and the insects scene were also overdone. But the Kong vs. the bi-planes scene was absolutely perfect!

BEST KISS
Jake Gyllenhaal & Heath Ledger - "Brokeback Mountain" (Focus Features)

That got the biggest WOW from me.

"BEST FRIGHTENED PERFORMANCE"

What the hell does that mean? Actor/actress who acted the most scared? Anyways Jennifer Carpenter wins hands down.

And the winner is ... dramatic pause, cut to commercial...

Was one of the more memorable bits.

Vaughn and Wilson best team

Isla Fisher for breakthrough (she was a scene stealer)

Gyllenhaal and Ledger for best kiss

Ziyi Zhang for sexiest (but knowing MTV, they'll kiss Beyone's ass like ALWAYS)

I like and own all the movies nominated for best movie but , (not to get flammed ) Star Wars was the highest grossing movie of the year and did win the peoples choice award for fav dramatic picture and all around picture ... but this is MTV we are talking about. The same awards show that had Meanace II Society win best movie over Jurrassic Park (highest grossing) and Shindler's List (most acclaimed) one year, so what exactly is the criteria?

We do have to get a few nods to Dukes of Hazzard of coarse.

Agreed. He was great in Batman Begins but it's in Red Eye where he truly got to shine as the villain. Of course the best part of his villain role was how he was such a bumbling sweetheart at first and just turned into such a nasty guy almost seemlessly.

I like that Kung Fu Hustle got nominated. But I hope that whoever rights the script for the announcer doesn't credit Yuen Woo Ping for the fight choreography in the particular fight sequence they just nominated. Sammo Hung was not only responsible for choreographing that particular fight (and the first fight of the movie) but he also directed that whole sequence. I love Woo Ping but credit should be given where it's due.

Jessica Alba to Host MTV Movie Awards
Monday, May 1, 2006 3:12 PM EDT
The Associated Press

NEW YORK (AP) — Jessica Alba has a new starring role: host of the MTV Movie Awards.

"It's always a crazy, fun show, and I can't wait to be right in the middle of the action," the 25-year-old actress said Monday in a statement to The Associated Press.

Alba is nominated for three golden popcorn trophies — sexiest performance for "Sin City" and best hero and best on-screen team with Michael Chiklis, Chris Evans and Ioan Gruffudd for "Fantastic Four."

The 2006 MTV Movie Awards will be filmed June 3 at Sony Picture Studios in Culver City, Calif. The show will air June 8 (9 p.m. EDT).

Alba, who starred in the TV series "Dark Angel," appears opposite Hayden Christensen in the upcoming film "Awake," a psychological thriller.
