I don't see why not. There isn't a MI5 movie is there? The movie would also technically be named Mission Impossible 5.

One, what movie are you referring to?

Two, there are lots of movies with the same title. It's not illegal or anything.

There was no MI4...Tom Cruise forgot about the whole "self-destructing" part.

MI5 is like the British CIA and also a TV show.

MI5 is equivalent to the FBI and is responsible for domestic intelligence. MI6 is equivalent to the CIA and is responsible for foreign intelligence.

Ah...so here's my question: can they still call the fifth Mission: Impossible movie MI6?

Technically, the British had MI-1 (code breaking), MI-2 (Russian and Scandanavian intellegence), and MI-3 (Eastern europe intellegnce) as well. Granted they were defunct by the time the movies came out, and no one thought the movies were about said agencies (or that the British were resurrecting them).

I think he's saying it's the 4TH SEQUEL, not the 4th movie, hence it'll be the 5th mission impossible movie.(Original, sequel MI: 2, sequel 2, MI: 3, sequel 3 MI: 4, sequel 4 MI: 5). Or am I missing something here?

You are absolutely right. I actually explained myself here: http://dvdtalk.com/forum/showpost.ph...46&postcount=6 , i'm having lots of chuckles reading the replies due to my idiotic thread title though.

It actually would be M:I 5 or M:I 6 not MI-5 or MI-6. I don't think anyone would challenge the title acronym in any case.
