Ice Age age approriate for a 3yr old?
 

I know we don't normally do this but I was wondering if anyone could tell me if Ice age would be too scary for a 3year old girl? or Can someone tell me a site that tells you this stuff?
Thanks hoping to take my daughter to the drive in for her first real movie in "theaters"

I've got a friend that has a young child that we had to always make sure it was family approved. That's an awfully good website, but it's tough to get just a 'yes' or 'no' answer, it basically recaps the entire movie point by point for you. There was another good one we used too but I couldn't find it, I thought it was FamilyFirst but that wasn't it.

Really, that's the best way to do it since every kid is different, and every parent has different ideas about what's appropriate.

No, do yourself a favor and let the audiences enjoy the movie.

It has some scary moments, the word CRAP is used twice (the little kid in my row kept repeating it when he heard it), and DAMN is said once. I loved IA2 and cant wait to own the dvd. Great film.

I'm guessing you missed the drive-in part.

Well, there are two prehistoric fishy-crocodile thingies are pretty intense...so, that might be an issue.

I'd have to agree. I'm not really sure a 3 year old should be taken to a theater.

He said he was taking her to a drive-in, not a theater.

You know your kid better than we do. Why don't you go see the movie first and decide for yourself if it would be too intense for your kid?

This is the 2nd time (3rd if you count the OP) that it had to be mentioned he's taking her to a drive-in... and we're only at post #12. Do people even read the responses before posting?

There's another website called screenit.com that details everything in a movie... and I means details. But, as Groucho mentioned, no matter what is in a movie, only you will know what is scary for your child. Did she see the first Ice Age? I haven't seen the sequel but I would imagine it'd be similar. Is she okay while watching Pixar movies? They are great films but they do have minor scary moments.

I let me 3 yr old nephew watch Ice Age and he loved it. While a friend at work let his 3 yr old son watch Saw 2. Different strokes for different folks.

Sorry about that. I just saw "3-year old" and "theater" in the same post which caused a bit of a :eek: reaction.......

Just let that be a lesson to you, young man. For punishment you will have to watch the Uwe Boll movie of your choice. :D

Ok, you guys need help. Ice Age is not X3. This is a kids movie. A cartoon. It was made and is meant for the 3 and up set. It has some high humor to keep these children's parents interested just like every other CG movie since Toy Story. I love these movies, but you CAN NOT get ticked when you go to one of these movies and find a theater full of children. I took my 3 year old last Sunday and she loved it. She remained in her seat the whole movie and laughed when appropriate, and did not cause an issue. I'll make you a deal: I won't take my daughter to X3 if you don't come to any more CG movies! ;)

As far as the scariness of the movie goes, the predator sharks could be intense to some children, but most should be ok. I say take her.

I had a customer come out and get a refund at my theater today because she felt the film was inappropriate.

Twenty minutes later I saw a guy go to Basic Instinct 2 with a seven year old.

I just saw Inside Man.. some couple had their 4-year old there...(R-rated)

I'm not sure why a three year old shouldn't be at a showing of Ice Age 2. It's a kid's movie people, if you want zen-like silence go see a boring indie.

$20 says she's just a cheapass and has done that more than once before

i'm taking my 3 yr old(who does fine in theaters and doesn't bother anyone) and 5 yr old this week sometime. I don't think it should be too bad for kids thier age. The first one only had the one scene that was a little intense, so hopefully this one isn't too different.

Dude, no. Kids are rowdy in theaters...just let people enjoy the movie.

My wife finally strung me along to Ice Age this weekend, not my thing. But it was PACKED with little kids and I didn't mind. I subscribe to the target audience theory that at Ice Age I need to expect kids there and not have a problem. In my messed up head, that gives me the ability to complain about kids being at The Hills Have Eyes (4 of them, loud little jackasses too). I think if you know you're going to have a problem with kids in the theater it's probably reasonable to wait a few weeks to let the crowds die down or wait for DVD.

Nothing messed up about it. You should EXPECT kids at Ice Age. That'd be like going to see Curious George and expecting to NOT find any kids there. Radiculous.
