Best Segue to End Credit Songs in Movies
Most of the times movies just segue into score music for the closing credits, or if it's a horror movie into a hard rock song that they somehow think fits the mood.
However, there are several movies that segue into their closing credits very well and play something that in some way or another fits perfectly with what you've just seen. I think some examples of what I think do a good job would better illustrate than me trying to explain. Full Metal Jacket-Paint It Black-love the way it fades to black and plays like it might be going to another scene as the rest of the movie, then comes the credits Clerks-song is perfect V For Vendetta-Street Fighting Man-perfect capper Grizzly Man-Coyotes-plays a little before the movie ends, but sums up the man we have just seen A Clockwork Orange-Singing in the Rain-don't know why, but it fits in its own warped way! Interview With a Vampire-Sympathy for the Devil-okay, kind of on the fence with this one. I liked it when I first saw it, but since then it seems to be common for a movie with the bad guy having the upper hand to play that song at the end. Nightmare on Elm Street 3:Dream Warriors-just seems like the perfect fit Anybody have some favorites of their own? |
Exit Music (For a Film) by Radiohead in Romeo and Juliet (1996).
I agree with Paint it Black on Full Metal Jacket and I do believe there is already a thread on this subject. |
The Matrix

The Matrix immediately came to mind and I loathe "hard rock" music playing during the credits. More often, I think of songs that would work best in credit sequences, not the other way around.

i don't remember if it runs into the credits or not, but Neil Young's "Philadelphia" fits the ending of the film Philadelphia perfectly.
i also liked the use of Israel Kamakawiwo'ole's version of "Over the Rainbow" at the end of Meet Joe Black. -ringding- |
The fade up into Moby's "God Moving Over the Face of the Waters" at the end of HEAT is divine.

Never cared that much for Moby, but I thought Extreme Ways fit great at the end of the Bourne flicks.

i liked Sting's song at the end of "The Professional".
|
I liked at the end of Magnolia when they play "Save Me" and then right at that one point in the song, the smile comes, and then cut to black and the song continues. So carefully crafted.

I really like how "40-year-old Virgin" segues right from the movie into the closing credits sequence.
