Michael Bay to remake LADYHAWKE?

This actually sounds like it could be good.

Platinum Dunes has purchased the rights to redo 1985 pic Ladyhawke.

The deal marks the fourth remake for Platinum Dunes since it was formed by Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller. Shingle began with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and continued with The Amityville Horror, both of which outgrossed their negative costs in their opening weekends. Amityville Horror, which cost $19 million, finished its opening frame at $23.3 million. Last year the company purchased remake rights for The Hitcher.

Originally directed by Richard Donner (16 Blocks), Ladyhawke starred Michelle Pfeiffer and Rutger Hauer as starcrossed lovers torn apart by a magical curse that turned one of them into a hawk by day and the other into a wolf at night. Bay said the film would mark a departure from the company's usual template of low budget horror remakes. He indicated that Ladyhawke will be a fullblown fantasy epic that could turn into a Lord of the Rings type trilogy.

"Someone mentioned the title and I said, 'That's the one we should do,' " Bay said. "I loved it as a college student, and we can bring in some cool CGI and a better musical score to turn it into a rocking film." Bay indicated that they are already in talks with Ben Affleck and Kirsten Dunst to take over the roles originated by Hauer and Pfeiffer.

CGI + Musical Change + Affleck + Dunst + Ladyhawke + Michael Bay = Tell me next week and I might believe it.

Considering the day that it is, I'm just sitting back and taking in all the "news stories"...

It's odd that this news article is no where to be found on Variety's website.
