I say "Basic Instinct 2". I haven't heard as bad reviews for a movie in years.

First movie surprisingly made money, no way the second bombs too badly.

My choice would be Running Scared for now, I haven't seen ads for movies coming out later this year tho, so that may change.

Running Scared scored a whopping $6.8m with a max release of 1,611 theaters.

In terms of a movie being a bomb quality wise...

I'll go with Stay Alive.

you can't really tell if a movie bombed until you see the budget and dvd sales. at this time i agree ith running scared having poor numbers, but it didn't open in that many theatres.

Sorry, but home video should never be counted towards theatrical release grosses. The OP should have said included Box Office in the title.

yeah, ok, if that's case then it'd be different, but you also need budget and foreign money as well.

being this is the "Movie Forum" and merely discusses theatrical releases, i thought it was implied.

nah, you misread. "A Discussion area for everything movie related including films In The Theaters" dvd's are indeed movie related, at least to me, not sure what'd you consider it.

I'll stick to either Ghost Rider (upwards of $120 million dollar budget for a Marvel character not that well known) or Monster House (Zemeckis computer animated kid's flick opening against Lady in the Water and Super Ex-Girlfriend).

1. Just because the first one does huge doesn't mean the second will hit big as well. Case in point: Stuart Little 2 (if we're talking about big budget kiddy flicks).

2. Running Scared might've bombed, but it's budget was small and it was funded mostly by international companies.

3. Date Movie was easily the shittiest film of 2006 (right up there with She's the Man), but it made $50 million on a $20 million budget. Not a bomb.

Not hit big, just won't bomb. At the very least, it'll hit around $30m, so while it could be a loss, it won't be the biggest bomb of the year, unless they spend $200m on it.

Yeah, I think a bomb more of a movie with a high budget and high expectations...Ala Stealth or The Island, although Im not sure what the expectations were on either of those. I think X-Men3 has the potential to be a bomb, although I am looking forward to it.

I wouldn't mind if a couple of these CGI animal movies bombed. I'm already burned out on Over the Hedge just from seeing the trailers that they start showing months in a advance. And then you've got The Wild and Open Season...they all look like the same freaking movie! It almost makes me look back fondly on Shark Tale and Madagascar. :(

Did you see Ultraviolet? Cause I did and Stay Alive is quality viewing when compared to UV.

UV was supposed to be an over the top live action anime. it seems people went it expecting equilbrium 2 or something. for what it was ultraviolet suceeded in what it set out to do, be eye candy and show a new evolved form of gun kata. yes teh acting was bad, and yes teh story was bad, but if you went to see this movie for that, you were misinformed.

date movie was garbage, yes. but she's the man wasn't that bad. i have a guilty pleasure for teeny bopper flicks so i'm a bit biased, but lots of people i know enjoyed it as well. she's the man wasn't quality cinema but it was fun cinema and nowhere near as bad as some of the other crap that came out this year.

I own flicks like She's All That and Whatever It Takes on DVD and I still thought She's The Man was a piece of shit. I didn't know if I wanted to hang myself in the theater with my friends or grow a vagina during it.

No way Snakes On A Plane is going to bomb. It had a smaller budget. It has an unhealthy obsession going on with fanboys and internet buzz...and for all the joe six packs out there its a new Sam Jackson movie to eat popcorn and veg out with...
