Goal! - 5/12/06 - Anyone interested?

Goal!

It was released in at least the UK in 2005 and is already on DVD there as well. Amazon UK ((wasn't sure how to DVDtalkify the link)). A friend of mine caught it there over the Winter holiday and recently bought the DVD.

I watched it because I really liked Hooligans and thought this may be worth checking out. While it is focused on the players not the fans, I'd daresay fans of Hooligans would like it too. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I can't say I'm a big fan of football (world football not American), but the guy's story was great. And getting to see a few actual professionals footballers sparsed around was equally cool.

Has anyone else caught this? imdb says that a part 2 and 3 are in production, too.

I just finished watching this off of Netflix. I've had it sitting around for weeks, but haven't bothered to watch it. Glad I finally put the time in. Sure it tends to follow a typical plot pattern, but the cast works wonderfully together and there are a couple of twists and turns along the road. Plus the redhead is gorgeous.

Not sure I'd be eager to watch a second or third film (I'm assuming atleast partial same cast?). However, if it did well in the rest of the world, I could see where the market exists.

Likely to purchase rather than rent next time I feel like watching.

being a huge soccer fan, i really enjoyed it. it was predicatable and the plot was typical, but it was a lot of fun.

and it was cool to see the newcastle players and other epl players.

and i'll be looking forward to seeing parts 2 and 3.
