There was a DVD release of Van Helsing in Animation.. it was some sort of a prequel to the movie

I was wondering what was the origin of van helsing. Maybe this was addressed in the movie but the movie really does move a mile a minute and perhaps i couldn't follow everything. and the accents make it a bit harder too

this is what i gather so far:

van helsing murdered dracula when Dracula was a mortal man. That was some 400 years ago. Now van helsing exists in the present and he has had his memory wiped. How did he live 400 years? why is his memory gone? Also why did Van Helsing murder Dracula and why did Dracula make a pact with the devil that turns him into a vampire?? Is there any reason why Van Helsing works for that holy order? Did he work for that order before he murdered Dracula?

Van Helsing served its purpose... purpose of getting Kate Beckinsale into a tight leather outfit while we waited for the Underworld sequel.

j/k. I enjoyed VH. I don't get the gripes either. It was fun, not near as bad as people would have you believe.

Van Helsing is at best a guilty pleasure and at worst very mediocre, but it doesn't go anywhere near the level of wretchedness that is Batman And Robin or Superman IV.

I gotta agree.

I didn't like "Van Helsing", but it isn't nearly as bad as "Batman & Robin".

We loved Van Helsing.
Also liked The Punisher, Stealth, Elektra, & The Hulk.
Thought League of Extraodinary Gentleman was a missed opportunity but not a total waste of time.
Glad we ignored the bad reviews & made our minds up ourselves.

We have seen our share of cringe-inducing movies such as the Star Wars prequels, The Family Stone, Underworld, I (Heart) Huckabees, Batman & Robin, Superman IV, etc. Our cinema tastes are pretty eclectic: Criterions, classics, adventure, indies, foreign, blockbusters...you name it. Cinema tastes are like everything else...highly subjective.
