Who portrayed P.O.T.U.S. the best in a movie?
I love when someone plays the President of the United States with smarts, charisma, charm, and an overall strength. Two performances i always love to watch are:
Michael Douglas in "The American President" Jeff Bridges in "The Contender" They were both so good and adept. Now, I am not saying they take an accurate portrayal of what a President should be (I am not really sure what that is exactly anyway), but there acting performances in these roles are just superb and I can watch them in that role over and over. Who do you think portrays the highest office in this nation the best? |
Dan Hedaya in "Dick"
|
Not a movie, but I always liked Martin Sheen in "The West Wing."
|
Jeff Bridges in "The Contender" is definitely a great bigscreen POTUS. At first, I was wondering how someone like that gets elected to the Oval Office, but as the movie played out, I realized he was actually a shrewd, manipulative politician who was a lot smarter than he let on.

Prez kicks azz! Harrison Ford in "Air Force One".

I had to click on this thread just to find out what the hell a P.O.T.U.S. was...

Hands down Bill Pullman!
He totally kicked ass as President and a jet pilot! But seriously, well... I have no serious answer. I saw The Contender a long time ago and while I remember it being a strong movie its still very hazy. I will say this though I've always liked Kevin Kline's performance in Dave. |
Donald Pleasence in Escape From New York
|
Film: Harrison Ford - Air Force One
TV: Dennis Haysbert - 24 |
Silly answers first.

"Get off my plane!" I'm in the Pullman camp- I love ID4. Whitmore led his troops into battle, so to speak. |
I liked the way Donald Moffat played the President in Clear and Present Danger; blinded by his anger and a completely stubborn prick. Sounds familiar.
Also, for real presidents, I thought Bruce Greenwood did an awesome job as JFK in Thirteen Days. |
I liked:
Kurtwood Smith in Star Trek IV. He was definitely a great Prez. Bill Clinton in Contact. Talk about getting the role down pat. JFK and LBJ in Forrest Gump were good too. |
David Carradine in Death Race 2000.
|
Ronald Reagan was pretty good.
|
Peter Sellers in Dr. Strangelove
Bill Pullman in ID4 |
