Anything for Billy - Gilliam's next film?
According to this BBC article Gilliam's next film could potentially be an adaptation of "Anything for Billy".
Has anyone read the book? He is also attached to Anything for Billy, a western about legendary gunslinger Billy the Kid, based on a book by Larry McMurtry, who co-wrote the screenplay for Oscar-nominated film Brokeback Mountain. "It's the story of an East Coast dime novelist who goes to the real Wild West and discovers it's far worse than he ever imagined," he told the BBC News website. "It's one of Larry's best books. The difficulty is there's so much in it that we'd have to lose a lot to condense it into a movie." |
Pretty cool. I'm still waiting to see TIDELAND, though, but it's good he's (hopefully) getting started on another project soon.

In the book "Dark Knights and Holy Fools," which was published in 1999, this film adaptation is listed as one of Gilliam's "unmade" film projects. It states he got the idea after meeting with Larry McMurtry during the making of Twelve Monkeys. So this project has been in the works for about a decade.
