Its a good question. the first Matrix kicked ass, and I thought Reloaded had some interesting things going for it. Revolutions is the TPM of the Matrix series.
My biggest complaint is that the original Matrix really seems compromised by its sequels. I know it shouldn't effect my view on the original movie, but I can't stand how an interesting concept was bloated in Reloaded and then essentially re-written by the end of Reloaded. When that happens, its easy to see how Revolutions turned into a turd because it had to re-start and end the story in one movie. And how it lessens the original Matrix. |
Star Wars prequels for me due to the lightsabers.
The Matrix trilogy is still entertaining though. |

I voted for Star Wars simply because it was Star Wars and it was rather entertaining, though I think Matrix might be the better of two in terms of story.
FWIW, this looks more like another thread for people to bitch about the PT. A lot of the responses are : "well, Matrix disappointed me with the sequels, but at least it didn't do what the SW PT did!" |
I'd rank the individual films (best to worst):
The Matrix Episode 3 Episode 2 Episode 1 Matrix Reloaded Matrix Revolutions As many problems as Episode 1 had, I think the Matrix sequels had more. Reloaded had no real story... just a bunch of decent action sequences (although nothing topping th eoriginal Matrix) strung together to lead up to Revolutions. And Revolutions was even more disappointing because it ended the series, and the whole phenomenon, in a dull way. All the promise of the first film was wasted with those sequels. In the end I guess I'd rather have something start weakly and end with a bang than start strong and end with a whimper. |
I've only fallen asleep at the theater twice in my life: during the Phantom Menace and the second Matrix movie. I was so excited to see both and so very very underwhelmed--to me, they both really sucked.
(I haven't seen the third Matrix or the last 2 Star Wars Prequels, so all I can judge is the two mentioned above--they were bad enough to keep me from watching the rest though). |
I'm going to have to vote Matrix. The first movie is awesome, and I enjoyed the sequels. They certainly didn't live up to the first film, but they were pretty good.

The first Matrix trilogy has one excellent movie and two bad ones. The SW prequel trilogy has one terrible movie, one poor movie, and one movie with 20 minutes of good material punctuated by moments of terrible dramatic beats.
So as trilogies, both sucked. |
I thought the Matrix was garbage and didn't bother with the sequels, so I'll have to go with SW here. :p
|
Matrix. Don't even need a second to think about this.... The SW prequels had terrible acting, horrible scripts and cartoon looking CGI.
The Matrix Trilogy had a great film and two good sequels IMO. |

The Matrix Reloaded Revolutions Ep3 Ep1 Ep2 (Hated this movie with a passion!) |
Revolutions is a movie that I didn't think sucked as part of the whole story, but as a stand alone movie is practically unwatchable. I saw it as part of the "zero hour" event after a night of viewing the other two, and I thought Reloaded was better than the first one.
The reason I picked the SW trilogy though is because TPM is the only one I legitimately don't like. AOTC really has its moments, and if you watch it as the first ep. , then the cartoon Clone Wars series, and then ROTS, then you have a pretty cool SW experience. In short, the PT started with a fizzle but ended well, while the Matrix trilogy more or less did the opposite. |
Nothing to see here, move along. :horse:

"The Matrix" is a great movie.
Thats all i'm going to say. |
Hard choice, but I have to go with Star Wars....mainly Ep2-3.
|
The first Matrix alone beats all the Star Wars movies, which are just OK flicks in my book.
