The original Rocky still stands the test of time, and it's still a great, subtle performance. The sequels are entertaining (except V, ugh). First Blood was the start of the "superhero"-type roles that he pigeonholed himself into for a couple of decades. That doesn't mean he didn't do some very entertaining flicks during that time:

Rambo: First Blood Part II
Rocky IV
Cobra
Tango and Cash
Demolition Man
Cliffhanger (also Renny Harlin's late-in-the-game homerun)

Copland was forced at times, but it was still better than anything he'd done in a few years. Sadly, I think we have seen the end of these types of roles for him, if Rocky Balboa is any indication of future projects.

I don't think I own a single movie with him in it, although I was recently thinking about picking up Rocky.

I agree with you, I really like that movie but it seems that nobody knows about it. I too saw it by accident on some weird channel (I almost never watch TV)

my top sylvester's movies
rocky 1-4
rambo 1+3, 2 slightly less (arrow 'hang time' was a superb idea)
cobra (fantastic soundtrack)
cliffhanger + demolition man - really well done action movies

With Rocky VI coming out and Rambo IV in the works, how soon can we expect the next two installments of the Over the Top trilogy?

I remember renting Oscar when it first came out(i guess i was 14-15)and I really liked it then. I caught it again on Encore and I still really enjoy. It comes off like a community stage production, which sounds like an insult, but that is what i really like about it. It is a film that has a huge replay value for me.
Other than that,
Rocky(I,II,III)
Cobra
Over the top
And for some odd reason i like Judge Dredd, which i guess should get my film geek card taken away.
