Dukes of Hazzard should not be nominated for worst picture. It wasn't great, but it was on par with about all the average stuff hollywood has put out, and better than movies like "The Longest Yard, Stealth, The Fog, The Amityville Horror." I wouldn't buy any of these movies, but I certainly enjoyed Dukes more than all of them.

Tom Cruise will likely win, not because of his performance in the movie, but because he's nuts and it's chic to make fun of him. He deserves the derision, but not for WotW.

I think Dukes rightfully belongs on the list, it took an hour and a half of my life away from me and I gained no laughs and my IQ fell 20 points just watching it.

I seriously doubt most people think House of Wax is worse than Alone in the Dark.

The Razzies are just a joke that stopped being funny a long time ago. They used to be a fun gag "honoring" the year's major turkeys and mistakes. But lately they've fallen into the trap of picking people just because they're fun to make fun of, rather than because they gave an especially wretched performance.

The Cruise one is just silly. I think House of Wax is mainly catching shit because Paris Hilton was in it, it's ridiculous that it got one of the "worst picture" noms and Alone in the Dark didn't.

interesting how the last time a star wars movie was released it dominated the razzies. this year only one nomination, for hayden. personally i thought he performed MUCH better than he did in AOTC and i think there were worst performances out there. oh well.

Probably afraid they'd get shot if he was chosen.

Yeah, you hit it spot on. The Razzies are pretty much pointless now and half of the nominations, Tom Cruise especially are just there to get attention from the media and nighty entertainment rags. meh. This year had some rather weak weak films.

Jack had it right. Tom Cruise got a nom, and will probably win, because it will get the Razzies some publicity. Truth be told, the Razzies are a joke and the people that run it need to move on an find something more worthwhile.

There are many stupid nominations in that list.

they should alreadly give him an honoruary 'Worst Director Ever' Award

I thought everyone in War of the Worlds did a horrible acting job.

i thought Tom Cruise was actually very good in War of the Worlds, he elevated it in a way a journeyman actor (Bill Paxton, Cary Elwes, et al, couldnt) As for Jessica Simpson, she was, perhaps, the worst actress i've ever seen....and Dukes of Hazard (whcih for some reason i paid $8 to see) was, perhaps, the worst movie i've ever seen, so i think they both qualify.

I find it neck to neck in terms of bad acting ability from both Tara and Jessica -

ok, Tom Cruise is wrong, and most of hte Dukes of Hazzard nominations are wrong, given the rest of the movies listed.... otherwise great!

I don't get why they had to bash so heavily on Dukes of Hazzard?

It was just that bad

Seriously, it was a painfully bad movie.

Dukes was as good a film as it could be. It was lighthearted and fun. It had some great car chases and was perfectly cast. I will eventually purchase it when it is below $7.

My picks:

Worst Picture
The Dukes of Hazzard

For all the talent (directorial and writing wise, it's debateable for those who ended up on screen) involved, I honestly expected this to be better. The other ones on the list did not have any anticipation of actually being good, or even close to good. I thought it would be good, mindless fun at least. It wasn't even that. It was about as fun as a dung bettle burrowing into your ear drum.

Worst Actor
Will Ferrell - Bewitched & Kicking and Screaming

The guy acts the same no matter what he's in. Winner, hands down

Worst Actress

Tara Reid - Alone in the Dark

Worst performance ever. I didn't see a movie, but a friend showed me the scene with her in the museum, and it was really bad, porn movie bad.

Worst Supporting Actor

Eugene Levy - Cheaper By the Dozen 2

I never saw it, but he did the Man and he deserves to win a Razzie for that, and then he does this movie? Oh, yeah, he needs the award.

Worst Supporting Actress

Katie Holmes - Batman Begins

She wasn't that bad in there, but she did drag down an otherwise flawless movie. I don't know what was more annoying, her in Batman Begins or Macy Grey in Spider Man. I am still debating this.

Worst Director

Jay Chandrasekhar - The Dukes of Hazzard

Dude, you could have done better. Did you phone in the direction on this one?

Worst Screenplay

The Dukes of Hazzard

The only one on the list I've actually see all the way through, so I can't say much about the others.

Worst Remake or Sequel

Son of the Mask

I don't have to see it to know. Just like I don't have to smell a rotting corpse to know it stinks.

Worst Screen Couple
Will Ferrell & Nicole Kidman - Bewitched
Jamie Kennedy & Anyone sharing the screen with him - Son of the Mask
Jenny McCarthy & Anyone dumb enough to befriend or date her - Dirty Love
Rob Schneider & His diapers - Deuce Bigalow: European Gigalow
Jessica Simpson & Her "Daisy Dukes" - The Dukes of Hazzard

Really no idea here. I'd say just draw straws.

Worst Tiresome Tabloid Targets

Tom Cruise & Katie Holmes - Oprah Winfrey's Couch, the Eiffel Tower & Tom's Baby

Is there any chance the winner might be another choice?

They just had to take a shot at Star Wars. Call me crazy, but Hayden being Darth Vader in episode 3 was a leading actor but for the razzies they put him as supporting actor. Just goes to show that they had to find a loophole to get Star Wars in there.

im all for good mindless entertainment, even when its bad...cannonball run 2 springs to mind. but Dukes went beyond fun-bad into just bad. maybe if it was on HBO and there was nothing else on and i was half asleep i could watch it and not feel violated. but since i saw it in the theater i hold it responsible...and yes, i do blame myeself as well.

I had a feeling Alba would be nominated in one of the catagories.
There were right on with Hayden Christensen. Talk about Wooden!

There are literally dozens of performances this year, far worse than Hayden. So no, he shouldn't be on there either. But, it gets the Razzies the attention they so desperately seek. Otherwise, few would pay them any mind.

I agree on the Katie Holmes nod.

She was miscast and was horrible. I don't think I've ever seen a good performance for her.
