I think you nailed it - that was a great run of movies over those 3 years.

(edit: although Superman II actually was released in the U.S. in 1981. It oddly got a worldwide release starting in 1980 before finally hitting the states during the next Summer.)

For the 70's:1977 is favorite, 1970 is the worst.
For the 80's:1983 is favorite, 1986 is the worst.
so it's 82,83,84 for me.

I'll have to agree with many others too: 1980, 1981 and 1982. Most of my favorite movies fit within that time period, with huge spikes on my DVD Profiler Charts & Graphs. I would've been Junior High School at that time. Here are the years, with my favorite movies which were released.
