Movies featuring Sex Tourism
 

Hi, I was working on a project for a tourism class, the topic is sex tourism and was trying to think of good filmic examples that featured sex tourism of some sort so I could use them for examples. Off the top of my head I could maybe think of Full Metal Jacket, or born into brothels as a possibility. But I know there must be some more maybe concentrating on sex tourism featuring such places as Amsterdam in the Netherlands, Bangkok and Pattaya in Thailand and Angeles City in the Philippines.

Anyone know any films featuring sex tourism of some kind?

nice list, Looks like some pretty raw documentaries. anyone know of films more on the tourism side of the sex business?

Man, I'm drawing a blank as to the title but I recently watched a documentary about a photographer teaching photography to children, some of the children either were working in the sex industry or had family who did.

Now that I think of it I wonder why a movie focusing on the sex tours hasn't been made. I'm not talking about a documentary but a fictional film about an American man taking a tour over to Thailand or someplace. It’s a taboo subject, but too ripe with possibility to not make an indie feature about.

Prick Up Your Ears--a great biopic starring Gary Oldman and Alfred Molina. If I remember right, at one point Oldman's character vacations somewhere tropical, where the brown teenage boys are waiting by the dozens to whore themselves...

there's some faux docu on gay men and hustling in Thailand, I can't seem to remember the title though

The OP may also be interested in HBO's "Cathouse" (which did 2 1-hour specials and a short series). Some of its on DVD, and that which isn't is still getting played regularly (maybe on HBO in Demand).

The Beach w/Leo DiCaprio mentions the Thai sex industry, I think.

And I know the U.S. soldiers hook up with a prostitute in FMJ, but it's a bit of a stretch to consider that sex "tourism." ;)

There was recent movie on Lifetime ofr USA network starring Mira Sorvino pays a cop and woman sold into the sex slave trade and covered the sex tourism too. I would also contract Gary Glitter. He can tell you about it.

nice thanks for the suggestions, is that Sorvino movie "Human Trafficking"? I just looked her up and thats the closest I could find to her in a role like that, well I guess except for Mighty Aphrodite, where she plays a hooker, but ya that doent apply to sex tourism too well.

There was an episode of Law and Order: SVU that dealt with that subject. Will Arnett, the guy who plays GOB on "Arrested Development" played a travel agent who hooked all these sex pervs up with trips to Southeast Asia to get little boys and girls, adopt them, take them home, and molest them.

No, they don't.

AFAIK not a single movie mentioned so far is about sex tourism. That means you actually leave your original destination to travel somewhere for sex. Not that you have sex while on vacation, or get propositioned by a prostitute.
