Hoodwinked

Went and saw this movie last night with the kids and it is a horrible movie. If it was not for my kids I would have walked out.

Stay away... stay far away from this one.

Giles 01-19-06 09:59 AM

really? I had a glowing review from Entertainment Weekly that liked it.

ginster 01-19-06 10:15 AM

Yeah... it was really bad. My wife fell asleep during the movie it was so bad and we love animated movies. The whole plot of the movie was stupid.

RonBoster 01-19-06 11:39 AM

The KC Star gave it one star. My son wanted to see it based on the 100 times the commercial runs during a two hour window. I'm hoping he'll forget about it.

Not really surprised. The previews looked pretty weak.

They've only been around a couple of years and I'm already getting tired of these generic CG cartoons.

Save Ferris 01-19-06 11:43 AM

The trailers make it look like a bad student film. Im sick of the generic overblown grotesque CG animated characters too.

ginster 01-19-06 11:47 AM

Trust me; this one is bad. It really is not about Little Red Riding Hood based on what most of us know.

They took a bunch of caracters from different stories and threw them altoghter and tried to come up with an interesting plot line, and it fails miserably.

If anyone wants to know what is about I can add it to this thread.

Wasn't expecting much, but it wasn't the harbinger of all things evil as some of you are making it out to be. It was a helluva lot better than Chicken Little and Shrek 2.

but was it better than Shark Tale (which I thought supremely sucked)? Sans the 3D aspect, Chicken Little would have been below average.

Since I perceived ST to be nothing than a "Ooooo lookit all the big names we got to do voice work! Let's make a movie around them!", I avoided it. That's not to say other movies don't do that too, but I remember being particularly annoyed by the marketing for this movie.

Much worse than Shark Tales.

but that seems to be the trend nowadays - so and so providing the voice talent - aw who gives a flying frig - look at the box office failure of Dreamworks Sinbad - all the voice talent in the world couldn't save that turkey.

Yes, but that was traditional cel animation, that is so last century. Use that same audio track and slap some CG characters and they'll be printing money.

Giles 01-24-06 10:54 AM

 (I'm glad I didn't listen to you ginster) I may have hated Shark Tales - but I thought this was just goofy.. and fun... and I loved it.

paradicelost 01-24-06 11:45 AM

I took two of my daughters to see it last saturday and I enjoyed it. Somewhat of a goofy film but that's what I expected so it was ok.

Giles 01-24-06 12:15 PM

Incidently I thought Patrick Warburton was great as the wolf.

The Bus 01-24-06 12:28 PM

Since when are celebrities automatically voice "talent"?

I'd rather have someone pay a real voice actor than some celebrity.

Interesting, you didn't find it slow and boring? To me, it just never seemed to grab my attention. It just felt like it kept dragging on and on and I was constantly looking at my watch.

slow? ... boring? - definately not! if you thought that this film dragged.. well... (I have no idea what to say)

Janus3 01-24-06 03:16 PM

yeah this movie was pretty good. i rather enjoyed it. had a lot of funny jokes and the squirrel said funny stuff so fast you might have missed. i was very pleased with this one. on another note, they've green lighted part 2. it will have the gang searching for a missing hansel and gretel.

Falc04 01-24-06 04:06 PM

I took my 7 year daughter to it last week. I was not expecting much, but found myself laughing more-and-more as the film went by. I'd give this one at least a 3 out of 4 rating.

Oh, and yes...head-and-shoulders above Shark Tale.

clemente 01-25-06 07:12 PM

Come on, the banjo-goat was awesome!

the movie reviewer for the KC Star is the hardest critic in the nation to please, though.

ken_572002 01-26-06 05:38 AM

Took my kids to see this the other day (ages 10, 8 and 6), and we thought it was great. Lots of funny scenes for kids and parents alike....
